Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] I need help! => Topic started by: Glorybound on 2017-01-07, 21:11:44

Hello!
I am a 10-year V-Ray user, and I am sticking my toe into the Corona waters. I have successfully converted V-Ray interior scenes, into a Corona scene, and I am impressed. Now, having said that I had not had the same success with my exteriors. My exterior scenes are pretty heavy. The conversion seems to go well. However, nothing happens when I hit render. Mind you; I don't know anything about the Corona settings; I didn't need to with the interiors. With my exterior, my MAX just goes black with the (Not Responding) and spinning wheel thing going on. I have let it sit for about an hour, at which point I kill MAX and go back to V-Ray. Is there any thing I should be aware of? Any tips?

Have you tried with more than one scene?
You are of course using 1.5?
-
Yes, I have tried my last three projects. I am using the latest Corona, which is 1.5.

Hi Bobby,
For exteriors I would always convert a heavy scene bits at a time, or at least convert it all but then turn off most of your layers and hit render to check the basics are working. If there are lots of forest pack objects, things with displacement etc. then there is a lot more scope for things going wrong.
In general though the converter script does and amazing job.
Have fun
Peter

Are you using some plugins in your exterior scenes? E.g. Forest Pack?
-
No, nothing special. I use Forest Pack and Forest Pro, for the most part.

I think this could be either a problem with Forest Pack, or simply running out of RAM. Can you check what is your RAM usage when 3ds Max freezes?
Also please send us a minidump file generated during the freeze. It will help us identify the issue. It's easy to do, and instructions are here:
