Sure you didn't lock your camera in the render settings?

am sure of it, seems the scene was converted from a vray scene so basically in max 2017 its not working too well with the physical cameras, i had to just recreate my own cameras and that solved it

I currently have the same issue on a file but it applies to any viewport as well. Camera is not locked. Even after I delete the camera, it will only render from the viewport the camera was set to.

I would try clicking the "lock" button in render setup window a few times, and clicking through different viewports. I remember a similar issue, looks like 3ds sometimes gets quirky like this.
Mitviz, weren't those cameras Vray cameras, even after the conversion?

yeah they were, they were working at the start but idk just stoped working after, i gave up on them and made some new cameras
