Title: Distributed batch rendering -- disregard local computer
Post by: clarppapc on 2016-12-09, 19:32:05
Hi all,

This might be an easy one -- is it possible to disregard the local computer from a distributed batch rendering?  I want to send my render job to a dedicated render computer, and not use any compute on my local computer.

Thanks for your help!

+1 and just general node management via checkboxes needed.

You can already do something like this by submitting your job to Backburner with DR nodes activated in render setup.

Good Luck

Duplicate btw: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,1696.0.html

Also a duplicate

But I presume it´s part of the upcomming new DR code.

Good Luck

Run BB manager on your master PC and run BB Server on your dedicated node and submit it through the network render dialog.
That does what youre after. Distributed rendering isnt what you want.

Distributed rendering isnt what you want.

You want it if rendering stills this way: Activated in the BB job. So one node (the one you submitted the job to) acts as the master and uses the others as DR nodes.

Good Luck

Yup, at some point I used BB heavily with DR together like Frood describes, works perfectly when you want images as soon as possible while freeing your workstation completely.

Of course Vray does have option for DR without local node so that can still be useful option but since batch rendering was mentioned, the BB/DR combo is quite good.

We will soon[tm] have a completely reworked DR solution. Checkboxes for nodes are there, not sure about excluding the workstation. But it was definitely requested many times, so even if it won't make it to the first new DR version, then it will be added at some point.
