Can the default values of the options of an EXR be changed?
Now the default TYPE is RGBA, but I would like it to be RGB.
For example if you open an EXR saved with type RGBA in Affinity Photo, the alpha is applied to the Beauty layer.

Is this a Corona or 3ds Max thing? Is it possible to save some other default when using some other renderer?
-
It could be Max which is responsible for the default values, I have no clue.

AFAIK input-output operations are handled by Max itself and not by plugins. Nevertheless it should remember last used options and those options persists even between max sessions, i.e. if i choose to save as RGB instead of RGBA, next time RGB will be chosen by default, until i'll deceide to override that. Isn't that the case for you?

thanks Romullus

I'm affraid you'll run out of space for your signature pretty soon :]

Then Ondra will make a "FAQ train" just like Dubcat's.

Affinity Beta is making waves i see. I had the same problem with alpha applied to every layer in exr file. I asked on the Affinity forum and it turns out that alpha is applied, if present. There is no option of saving it separately, like with OpenEXR or ArionFX plugin offers in Photoshop.
Turns out I've been saving my files wrongly for years, using RGBA, instead of RGB. But without it one must remember to add Alpha as render element.

Exactly what I figured out.
Apart from that Affinity is really impressive.

Isn't there a chance to get an 'unpremultiply'-function( script maybe) for affinity? This should be only a matter of applying the math.
It's not convenient, but for an unpremultiply you could use another software like fusion( depends on the resolution of your image if you are allowed to use the free version)
Or maybe I don't understand the problem?

Hi Mraw
true is should be a matter of appying math. The guys from Arion Fx are doing it.
But if you just take in mind to put the type as RGB and add an extra alpha pass as explained by pdanium, there is no problem.
