Title: CoronaSun (via Daylight system) 1.4>1.5.1 = dead
Post by: alexyork on 2016-11-08, 17:44:40
Hi,

Perhaps reported already but we're finding that on several (but not all...??) 1.4 max scenes, when opened in 1.5.1 and rendered without touching anything the CoronaSun which is inside a Daylight system is not showing. As in it's enabled but doesn't render. Recreating the daylight system/sun with exactly the same settings and it works.

Again, this is happening on some scenes and not others, so very strange...

hi,
does it happen if you delete everything but the daylight system? If so, can you send us such scene?

Hi Ondra,

Well.. we might have dun goofed, actually. It seems that these older 1.4 scenes, when opened up in 1.5 seem to have Lights hidden, which of course is causing the sun not to render. But I'm wondering if that's just something we've done in these scene files by mistake or when going from 1.4>1.5 lights are being hidden and that's a bug. Can't be sure at the moment. We don't have 1.4 installed anywhere here to test properly.

Oh, this was probably because in 1.5 we (IMHO) started respecting 3dsmax hide status better... we never hide/unhide stuff in scene ourselves. So this mystery is solved it seems ;)
