Title: Advice on stone and plaster texture.
Post by: octavtirziu on 2016-10-30, 16:42:18
Hello guys! For a new project i need to create a very specific texture (the one in the attachment). I am curious how would you approach this. As i don't have good photos of the texture I was thinking of either to scatter some stones and intersect them with a plaster wall (although the stones in the reference are at the same level with the plaster), or try to achieve the texture in PS.  Anyways I will do some experiments, but us i don't have a huge amount of time for this i would appreciate if you guys have some ideas.

I guess Megascans + Megascans Studio would do great job here:

Thanks maru, looks like megascan might do the job i'll give it a try right now.

these are my first tests so far trying to push some displaced arroway textures through the surface

@maru, the studio of megascans looks really nice but unfortunately their library isn't so large right now. I settled for a layered material, right now is just about tweaking the layer masks but as the image I have to do is not a closeup this should do.

Looks not that bad. You may want to blur your displacement map a little bit to get rid of that high frequency noise: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,9728.msg62381.html#msg62381
