Title: Inspiring Cinematic/CG Animations Thread
Post by: melviso on 2016-10-29, 21:31:33
I was wondering if we can have a light hearted thread where we can add our animations/ cinematics that inspire us, looks breathtaking, cool or interesting, innovative or was able to achieve something on technical/ technology grounds and also for us to know about if we may not have heard of them before.

Here are some of mine just to name a few-

So what re your favourite cg animations/cinematics? Pls feel free to add Making of or Behind the scenes footage as well.

This one is absolute favorite of mine. Especially making of. One man's work.

Making of:

This one is very impressive too:

Nice vid, belly.
I thought such houses in fairytales would have thunder and lighting, trees with no leaves, vultures or crows flying about, creepy and very worn out woodwork. Tbh, there is something spooky and unsettling about it. Seems like an ideal environment to shoot a horror movie/scene.

@Romullus

By one person? The making of is really cool. Must have taken a long while to make. This guy should be making cinematics or adverts as a one man studio :)
Reminds me of this guy's work:

Made by one person. I think his project is now being financed by Sony or Microsoft(not sure) and they are opening a studio for him to make the game. I am aware that a good number of the environmental assets he bought from the ue4 marketplace but his work is still amazing for one person.

It looks like glitched photogrammetry. Maybe that's what it is. Or 3d data extracted from 2d footage? Nice result anyway.

wow..nice post, burnin

Could be 3d modeling over 2d footage, with camera projection overlay using tracking as well. Could also involve using some 3d special effects plugin in After Effects or nuke? Will really like to see the making of as well.

Mixed techniques, but mainly photogrametry ;)
... and here's even more of it. This time combined with "fractality" in Amsterdam.

Cool vid, burnin. Wonder if a movie can be made in this style. Would it would be a theater hit? Nonetheless, it is a very unique and interesting artistic style.

Wanted to post this.
A really nice work by a cg animator who was also a great choreographer for fight scenes. Created this series that continues to grow and live on. Rest in peace, mate.

Interesting film made with Unity game engine. I wonder if this is realtime dynamic lighting. Looks great:

Part  3 of the Adam Series rendered with Unity. The story is getting more interesting.

It seems game engines might just be sufficient in telling stories. Though there seems to be a downgrade graphicwise compared to the previous two episodes.

Nice post, ronaldjung  :-)

Found this:

I am a bit curious about the blending of cg and real life footage for this movie. A lot of ppl seem to be criticising the eyes but I think thats what makes the character more interesting and relevant to the story they are trying to tell. Wondering what renderer they are using for the cg. Would be dope if it was corona renderer :- )

Great soundtrack too.
