btw, is this intended to be eastern Europe? Some images look like from my home town. :)

Nice! Seems like you got comfy with Corona :) Pretty well done!
I'm not really into all this archviz stuff so I'm pretty often bored by all the "good-but-I-think-I-saw-this-1902981-times-before" renderings.
But of all those pictures I like this one the most: http://www.3dmacher.com/daten/forum/7.jpg Nice balance and looks interesting.

Hi,

Amazing renders, good composition and extraordinary lightning :). May I ask you did you use HDRI or corona sun/sky for lightning, the result is obviously perfect? And one more question, how long it took for one render, as I can see everything is noiseless?

Thanks,
Ilija

Really great work man! Renders are perfect! Can you share little a bit about scene setup? I'm not that familiar with corona so all insight you can give us is more than welcome!

Great you like those images! Corona works really well for me, all very straigh forward! I understand what you mean, i have the same problem with arch viz like you, its pretty hard to  reinvent the wheel those days ;-) and finally the last decision has sadly always the client.

i can do that when i get back to work, but to be honest, all materials are very basic, just diffuse color or texture and bump maps. small tipp on the side is that i never use 100% saturated colors or pure whites...

thanks for your comment! for lightning i used both, a custome made hdri in combintion with the sun from corona. we normaly paint out the sun from the hdri to use a more flexible way of manualy ajusting the suns postiton. the render took between 4 and 6 hours in 3500pixel on the tallest side(some images i let cook overnight because i didnt really care about the renertimes).  if there is still some noise left i use neat image to reduce it.

i also  blur my hdri a bit in photoshop, so i reduce  very bright pixels in the render ( i think the are called fireflys or something like that)

just a small sidenote:

sometimes i figure out that my dual xeon PC (16 physcial cores, 64 gig ram) is much slowlier than my i7, depending on the scene... my solution for that was to merge the whole mesh into a new scenen and hit render again....

i hope i could answer a few of your questions,
best regards

Michael

Hi all,
i had a day off in the office today from regular arch viz jobs and did something different. it was really big fun rendering this "beauty" out ;-) rendering time was between 1 and 2h minutes in 3500 pixel.

sorry for not getting back to you earlier guys, the last weeks after the  vacation were a little bit bussy at work;-)

great you like my images, all where lit with an hdri an a corona sky! in some shots i also used some addition corona light, to lighten up some special parts of the plane.

Absolutely amazing images man! Especially of the interiors, awesome even diffuse lighting. Any chance of sharing some of your render settings? What are your thoughts on PPT vs HD cache for production quality renders? I'm still getting to grips with Corona (coming from Vray).

thanks for your feedback guys!!

About my render settings, the are different from camera to camera, mostly i used pt with hd 1024. if i am using HDRI and i have only small windows in my scene i use PT PT. sometimes i get some fireflfys when i am using hdri, a good workaround to avoid that is to blur the hdri in Photoshop a bit....

here is a quick render i did recently to practice

These look really awesome!!!

Just a quick note... If you have small windows and you are in interior, thats when you should actually use PT+HD, not PT+PT. The larger openings are, the more efficient is HDcache. I would also try to use portals, for interior scenes ;)

Basically, HDcache pays off more in scenes where it is hard for environment rays to reach most of the surfaces on your pictures. Those are mostly interior scenarios.

And the easier it is for environment to illuminate most of the surface you render, the more efficient PT+PT and, and less efficient it is to use HDcache :)

Or in different words, HDcache pays off especially in cases where majority of surfaces is lit indirectly by bounced light. And consider environment being a light too ;)

Title: Re: Michaels Gallery
Post by: Ludvik Koutny on 2013-09-11, 18:00:01
Yes, it is not always easy to decide where you should use one and where other one....

In general, use PT+HD for interiors, and PT+PT for exteriors. But then again, there are scenarios where it is not easy to determine if your scene is more of an interior, or exterior, such as this one you have posted: http://www.3dmacher.com/daten/forum/version2_web.jpg

There you may need to try both solution, and see which one works better :)

Thank's in advance

Title: Re: Michaels Gallery
Post by: goose1982 on 2013-09-16, 10:38:52
thank you very much guys for your interrest in my pictures.

@ivaylovelkov: i am using a standart camera and doing the whole ajustments in the "Post processing" rollout, in the following scene for example i am using a simple daylight system with corona sky in the bg.

keep in mind that every scene has diffrent setups, but with the exposure and highlight compression you can easily setup up every scene. i alsways render out my pictures in a low contrast and saturation version, so i have more "room" in post to shift colors and levels....

@rafpug : sorry i didnt wrote down the passes or time, mostly i let my renders cook over night....

based on Rawalanche great tips i did some test with a scene...

Scene without Lightportal, rendered with PT+HD in 19:32 with
HDRI

Scene with Lightportal, rendered with PT+HD in 20:42 with [/b]HDRI

Scene without Windows , rendered with PT+HD in 16:53 with [/b]HDRI

Scene with Lightportal , rendered with PT+HD in 17:53 with [/b]sun and sky

Scene without Lightportal , rendered with PT+HD in 18:07 with [/b]sun and sky

so my summery based on that scene would be that the portal has only a influence when you are using a sun and sky system, not with an HDRI..

can someone confirm that, or is it just a "bad" scene
Title: Re: Michaels Gallery
Post by: Ondra on 2013-09-16, 11:35:50
it depends on the map, portals are only effective when the environment is more or less uniform. If you HDRI has sharp light sources, portals won't help
