Title: Some Rocks.
Post by: argon000s on 2016-05-21, 21:17:16
I have just started out using Corona 1.3 for 3Ds Max, and it is awesome. I really like using physically based renderers especially gpu based ones as they are faster, but having used Corona a few times I am well impressed! It has some useful features and ability that you just can't get with other renderers.

Any way, this image should be familiar, it is Comet 67P / Churyumov–Gerasimenko. The model is courtesy of ESA. I used the same approach and used Corona's AO map to emphasize it's features. There are some issues with jagged shadows / edges but that may be just fault of the model.

The rendering of the rocks is actually my first attempt at making a rocky terrain scene. I used Rarayfire Studios RayFire Voronoi and Asperity modifiers to model the rocks and Corona's AO map for the texture, I think it does a good job making the rocks look quite old and worn. However I could of given more attention to the ground, I think I will play around with this idea a bit more.

Both renders are straight from Corona. I think the ability to adjust the EV and levels during and after rendering is a very important feature and all renders should have this feature. :-)
