Title: difference between physical camera DOF and corona internal DOF

nothing important but just curious, as the title said, do you guys notice the difference in result quality/performance between both kind of DOF?

No problem with English - it's perfectly clear. I wasn't sure about the technical details of your question.
Physical Camera dof is handled by Corona too, so there should be no difference in quality or appearance at all.
You need to remember to disable the "lens breathing" option in Physical cam, it made me scratch my head for a while. :)

thanx maru, in this case I will have a work on next few days that need to use dof and I remember couples months ago I have a corona1.3 scene with fireflies in almost every glasses reflection and it used dof from physical camera. but unfortunately i lost the scene (probably forgotten), and I still don't have enough time to test it with corona DOF, but i will. so if anyone here has any experience about using both type of DOF, please let me know.

The point of my previous message was that the Physical Camera DOF and Corona DOF is exactly the same thing. There will be no difference.

"exactly the same thing" sounds like they're twin and comes from the same codes, doesn't it?

Corona calculates DOF physically (I guess it is pretty much like letting light through a small hole on a plate) based on photographic parameters: sensor size, f size, target distance,... . You can see exactly the same parameters in Corona's "scene" settings, and in 3ds Max physical camera. It does not make any difference whether you are using the "scene" settings or camera settings, as exactly the same parameters are considered, exactly the same method is used, and exactly the same renderer is used. It's like having exactly the same settings in two different places. I hope it's clear. :)

I see, its clear already :) thanx for all your explanation and sorry for my confusing words.

about "the same codes", I mean that when we hit render with the DOF setup in max physical camera, does render calculate it with max own codes inside, or with corona's codes? but it doesn't even matter as long as the result has the same quality. there is no better way than practicing, i'll do it asap.
