hi,

wich version of max do you recommend for corona?
i have at the moment max2011, but it seems very unstable. should i go for a later version?

3Dsmax 2011 SP3 x64 no problem here.

Max 2013, Windows 7 SP1 64 bits, works fine too !

Max2014, stable like hell with or without Corona :- ) The best version so far, without any question. Fast like hell too finally

ok just intalled 2014...
2011 have some issues with...
btw. if you render hair, you set it to geometry right? and do convert it in mesh or leave it as the modifier? as modifier i cant change material settings, right? only as the whole emitter object, right?

Yes, leave it as a modifier. You can asign materials form there. But "parsing scene" phase slows down alot with hair&fur modifier in geometry mode! Sometimes displacement is better, if you dont need a close-up...
