Title: Looking for a 3D Model
Post by: Peeter on 2016-04-08, 16:30:26
Hi guys,

I'm looking for the Agen Armchair from Ikea. Anyone knows where can I get it?

Thank you in advance!

I tried doing a quick search but I didn't find anything. Maybe you could try looking at those CAD / DWG websites?

Or you can hire someone who is able and willing to model it.

If you can't find it through 3dmdb.com, which by now lists almost all reliable sources, or on manufacturer's website, by 99perc. such model is not publicly available :- ).

---> Modelling or Outsourcing.

It looks quite PITA to model, but i guess this could somehow help, assuming you've got Max 2016 http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/mcg/mcg-cane-basket

I sincerely wonder if they also modelled this chair down at IKEA since (nearly) all of the collection is in 3D nowadays. Too bad they still don't open it up for the community though.

Perhaps this is a starting point: http://www.3dmodelfree.com/models/26949-0.htm (http://www.3dmodelfree.com/models/26949-0.htm)

And for long distance this could be something: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=u56cfbf6c-d421-45d0-ae58-fe124fa2059b (https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=u56cfbf6c-d421-45d0-ae58-fe124fa2059b)

Good luck, seems like a hard one to get...

IKEA has all of their furniture modeled. I don't know why they don't set it for free to download since probably they would sell more. Finally I had to model it from a similar one. If anyone needs it just ask me for it by PM.

Thank you all!

AFAIK Ikea actively hunts models containing their IP on 3d stocks and requests to remove it. Maybe they're planning to start selling virtual furniture along with the real one at some point?

I had the chance to talk to Martin Enthed from IKEA, and he said, that it would be one of his goals to release their 3d library to have people use it. It would be a good way of advertisement and just to flood the market and many of the regular archviz images with their products (people tend to like free stuff ;) ). The problem is, that there are a lot of different levels and opposite ideas and it is not that easy to get something through in a big organisation like them :) But let's hope for the best!

I wanted to ask him the same question when I was in room but didn't get chance, too many questions :- ). Good to know the answer now.
