Title: Best workflow for HDRI lighting
Post by: boumay on 2013-06-28, 15:06:01
Hello,
I tried Hdri lighting but I get the HDRI spherical environment with bleached/washed out colors, and not as vibrant as the original hdr.
I played with exposure compensation etc, but I didn't succed to get the wanted results.
Which params should I tweak? And what is the technique in corona to get the best of hdri lighting.
Thanks

Sounds like you load your HDRi with wrong gamma (bleached look might refer to 2.2srgb instead of 1.0)

HDRi works flawlessly in Corona, I use it out of the box without any tweaking or setup. Just put into environment and that's it.

If you're past Vray user, you can use VrayHDRi loader for map, it loads your HDRi with correct gamma 1.0 automatically, if you use Max Bitmap, then you have to specify it. If you have Max2014 it will auto-load your gamma correctly as well.

I have my gamma/LUT settings at 1.0 for bitmap gamma, so it should be ok if it is that setting you are talking about. If not, then I didn't find the dialog to set the hdr gamma... Can you specify?
Thanks again

Input gamma for bitmap - 2.2.
Output gamma for bitmap - 2.2

You can choose override gamma 1.0 instead of automatic when opening up bitmap.

The problem I find with corona is that I can never get the right balance between exposure and highlight.
