We want to present our latest personal work from the architects McLaren Excell. Its a minimalistic victorian terraced house in Shepherd's Bush.
Our main focus was to reproduce the original photographs and to practice our overall abilities.
Everything was modeled with 3dsMax and rendered with Corona because it is perfect for this kind of interior scene.
It was important to keep the simple and beatiful atmosphere of this building.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.

This house features all the things I love :- ) Concrete, white spaces, steel and bricks.
I really like how you treated the concrete (unwrap or AO ?), the floor less so, but diffuse structured wood floor is one of the hardest mats to make well in Corona.
-
Did you extract any of the textures from the original photo's to use for the concrete? I only mention because I was taking a look at the real life project and noticed that the markings on one corner of the column are incredibly similar in both versions - but it's just that one corner! It's very nice work either way. I really like the one with the tiny amount of red in the berries amongst all of the greys.
-
Thanks :)
@Juraj
I tried several times to achieve the worn corners with AO but never satisfied me. So i went for unwrapping it an just paint the corners and sides. :D
The floor was a little bit tricky because the cracks in the middle are displaced. I ended up using 2-3 composite layers and a lot of time to get it right.
yeah, always a long story with wood materials. :)
@Ricky
Yes i took the textures from the original 1024x1024 photos but it was a lot of photoshop work to get the rest of the column.
-
Very nicely done. Concrete architecture always looks so cool, but I would never live in a place like that. Seems like you have to use a jack hammer if you need to do any plumbing work lol.
-
Oh wow, nice concrete! Like it a lot! :)
-
I love seeing so much effort in minimalistic interiors. Creating a realistic minimal interior is much harder that a typical scene with dozens of models. Good job!
BTW, I am curious about basic concrete textures you used. Those are self-made or bought somewhere?
-
Thanks:D
@3d architect
Every concrete in this scene is a seperate material with different base maps. The Bulk of them are from Betrand Benoit and Arroway but heavily modified.

Very nice concrete texture. you did it very well.
-
That is what i call a " Einbauküche". Tolle Bilder!!
-
Thank you.
@mr.schorsch
oder auch "Einbauküche for a lifetime" :D
-
Really great work with the concrete. Very nice!
Leo.

And don't forget to appreciate the wood :D . Love it. Soft and beautiful.
How did you light the scene?
-
Thanks :D
Took some time to get the right mix between too glossy and too mat. The real magic happened in Postpro :D
Lighting is just an overcast HDRi from CG-Source. :)
-
What I love the most is the subtle but proper use of Depth of Field, you don't think about it, but if you look there is hints of it here and there. Works amazingly well with the overall aesthetics of the images.
-
Favorite image is the book and the chair, although the dado rail stops shy of the door reveal. :)
Great great work.
-
The whole thing is fantastic. Congratulations.
-
Amazing work with the texture and lighting.
-
good job on the concretes. 5 thumbs!!!
-
really lovely :)

Good Job with concrete textures and light"s,
But some works need white wood texture on the wall - parquet on the wall??? \extreme white-ysh, unreal and clean/ and brick texture in the exterior scene /look some flat and compute, it looks like generated from procedural map's in substance D///
