Thank you for the notification! :)
-
A very nice list of fixes and changes..
New displacement also seems to be working but it seems to be way slower than before. Is that normal?
Regards

Ondra,
Tnx for update!
I've just noticed that when I restart IR second time (play/stop/play), Cinema4D crash...otherwise it is stable for now :))
-
Great work guys!
Ps: I can confirm minimaldesign's crashing

Guys this was wrote in the download main page of the A4.1 hotfix
"The production (non-interactive) renderer should be stable now, and we will work on the interactive renderer stability for the A5 release"
Please report the bugs in the bug section...

What is the default bump map value ? in A3 %10 was enough generally but this version need more than %200
Does anybody know that where is the normal map chanel ?
Thanks for your effort

Don't know about the default bump value but I think that if you want to load a normal map you should go under bump mapping -> click that triangle thingy and load a Corona Normal map shader.
I don't have the newest version loaded but that is probably how it is implemented. I just wanted to leave a response in case you needed it quickly :)
edit: you can check it out or someone else can confirm it, just to be sure

Can anybody confirm, the crash of 4.1 when using the C4D Noise Shader?

I've been using C4D noise in my bumps and diffuses and it works quite well. :)
-
For proper testing, take into consideration conflicts with other plugins.
Meaning if a crash occurs, test with only Corona plugin installed/running.

yes noise shader looks like problematic

Yes, for me cinema crashes also in material preview with noise shader.

I had big issues with using the C4D noise shaders resulting in instant crashes but it only occurred on one machine, and did it in both R16 and R17. it was fine on another couple of machines that I tested. After some head scratching I reinstalled C4D to a new folder then copied it into my original MAXON installation folder and deleted the original installation. Now everything works. Might be worth a try. You can give it a dry run by just installing c4d to a new folder and the copy across the corona plugin folder and .dll files from your original installation.

please test & report findings to mantis / bug tracker:

So no information on why displacement on this version takes much longer than the previous??
-
Not work material chenals key animation.
-
The displacement is the new system that creates better results without the need to heavily subdivide your mesh first. The downside is it takes longer to precalc.

I noticed that too, reported in mantis... i hope there is some bug behing the code, or improvements in the future because it takes much longer to precalc...

hey guys..
i hope work behind the curtains is going well with c4d ... i really cant imagine anything better than having corona fully fletched=)
on question - will you bring the point cloud display of the corona proxies to cinema ?? that would be so cool - also will there be corona scatter for c4d??
thanks for any insights and a happy new years=)

After some more testing it seems like the new displacement version is indeed much slower while precalculating.
I also noticed though that the screen size number (px), is not equivalent with the previous versions. Which means that you don't get the same result for the same value.
New version output's better resolution for the same value and has no edge breaks like the older method.
Although even when comparing similar results it is indeed considerably slower.
Now because this seems like an engine related issue
and since there are objects that don't need the edge break fix (which might be slowing the precalculation) like floors for example,
maybe you could add a per object basis "legacy displacement" feature till it gets fixed/optimized?
In addition, it would be great if there was a choice of "screen size" / "world space" on a per object basis as well.

Hi, I haven't heard of any updates on the development of Corona since 2016, I'm getting very concerned actually. Is everything ok? Are we gonna get Version1 for Cinema 4d this year?, I'm about to order a bunch of computers but I recently found that Corona is not compatible with team render, ( I'm using alpha 3) is that in the mix for 2016? Please let us know.

RC next week

Not sure why you are concerned about development when you're still on A3? A4.1 is a pretty good release. I use it daily but your right no DR at this point.

Hey,
we're working intensely on the Cinema4D plugin and the OSX port. A new alpha will be out in a matter of days, then two more alphas during spring and summer and finally, in September, v. 1.0 should be out. Stay tuned!
Cheers,
Jarda
