[C4D] Feature Requests / Layerset inside CBitmap
« on: 2023-11-02, 12:36:13 »
Hi

Would it be possible to get the layerset option when loading a PSD file inside a CoronaBitmap? I like to use just one psd for all my bitmaps / alphas etc. When loading the psd in a texture slot without a CoronaBitmap shader the option is there, but it's gone once merged inside a CoronaBitmap.

Edit - posted this in the wrong forum. Would you be so kind and move this to "Feature Requests" TNX!

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Corona 10 Very Slow
« on: 2023-08-24, 15:15:55 »
Hi,

I found Corona 10 to be very laggy and slow on different facets of the engine. I've opened an old scene that rendered in 1h15m in C9. With C10 it is almost two hours. Quite unacceptable if you ask me. Also the IR is buggy. Hangs when making changes to lights etc, and when trying to stop the engine then it seems to stuck.

Maybe I can upload one of my scenes for the devs to look at?

Thanks!

[C4D] I need help! / Caustics
« on: 2021-12-08, 09:59:17 »
Hi!

In prep of a new project I'm already testing some of the features I need to render. One of them is proper caustics. I'm struggling with the quality of the caustics, it just has a lot of noise which is -fo sho- going to be disapproved by the client.
Simple scene setup: Csun + Csky + Fast Caustics on both bottle and liquid. Noise level went down to 1,44% and applied denoising (fireflies only)

Attached are the beauty and the caustics pass.

Is there any way to get it less noisy and more realistic?

TNX!

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Bump Issue
« on: 2020-04-17, 15:07:53 »
Hi Guys,
Corona user for a few years now.. accomplished a lot of nice projects with this render engine!

Needless to say: layer stacking in the bump channel is a real pain in ass.. from the beginning there are numerous issues regarding stacking of noises with the layer shader. This is a shame, creating original complex materials are fully dependent on layer stacking. Other engines are perfectly capable of using layers and layer stacking, why is it such an issue with Corona for C4D?

I ran into it again while starting a new project, please take a look at the attached images. Maybe the issue here is somewhere between the chair en my keyboard, in that case i'd love to hear a solution!

Thanks!

[C4D] I need help! / Highlight fireflies
« on: 2019-09-02, 16:18:27 »
Hello fellow Corona users,

I'm busy with a scene which has a strong dof and is lit by a sunny hdri. The problem is I can't get rid of the fireflies that appear in the highlights. I tried various solutions but nothing seems to work properly:

Changed the sampling balance to different settings (from 16-2 to 4-2 to 8-4 and so on) as explained in the different topics about this problem.
Blurred the HDRI
Changed reflection and refraction to a slight blurred reflection/refraction
Denoiser (firefly only and high quality)
Highlight clamping

The attachment is a rendered region of about 300 passes.

I am curious what else could work in this specific case. Thanks in advance!

[C4D] I need help! / Infinite Ocean
« on: 2019-03-06, 22:58:51 »
Hi y'all

I am currently working on images of a boat. I've created a plane of water which is displaced by HOT4D and noise maps in both bump and displacement. Very nice. The obvious problem is the size of the plane. Is there a way in using some shader in a smart way that I could use to push the water to the horizon?

Thanks in advance!

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Hair won't render
« on: 2018-09-03, 12:01:29 »
Hi there!

I did a global search on the forum about this issue, couldn't find anything similar.

I have a fabric object that I want to have hair. Setup was pretty straighforward and renders also quite fast in the viewport (after 17 seconds it starts rendering - 2 hair objects, 700000 hairs in total).
The problem is that as soon as I want to render the image in the picture viewer, it hangs on the first stage 'preparing'. I've let it prepare for more than one hour, but doesn't do anything. It neither crashes, I'm still able to stop the render and quit the picture viewer.
Deleting the hair objects and inserting new hair objects with a lower hair count (initial - 5000 hairs) has the same problem. Renders fine in the viewport, nothing happens in the picture viewer.

[C4D] Feature Requests / Mapping Visible in Viewport
« on: 2018-08-30, 11:07:28 »
Not sure if this already came across, but it would make life a lot better if it would be possible to preview a certain mapping on an object in the viewport (like in max). EG: If I have a glossy material with a grunge map on the reflection glossiness, I want to preview that grunge map on the object where the material is applied to so I can map it properly. Now it is often guessing or cheating by creating a second material with that specific grunge map in the diffuse slot.

This is something I've been missing in C4D in general, but it would be nice if it could be implemented in Corona.

Thanks!
