I think we have nailed down a problem we've been having in the studio where max/corona windows suddenly start flickering on and off and getting focus/no focus, we think it's happening when CoronaAutosave kicks in during a render. It seems not to happen when monitors are off/sleeping so overnight full-res renders are finishing fine and autosaving just fine - but when running a simple mid-res render during the day when monitor is on and UI is showing, we think when autosave kicks in this is when it happens.

Can't verify for sure but pretty sure about this.

max 2018 sp4, Corona 1.7.3, windows 10, various nvidia cards mostly 1080ti

Have you already reported this somewhere else? (mantis/support/other)
How long does this "flickering" take? Is it enough to capture a minidump? Have you already sent us a minidump from this?

Not sent a dump, no. Not sure we can capture a minidump for it since it seems to freeze up/freak out the entire Corona UI. We've had to disable autosave on all machines as a result.

Please try generating a minidump using Process Explorer when it happens, if possible: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006

Another idea: disable control flow guard for 3dsmax.exe:

Go to Windows Defender Security Center | App & browser control | Exploit protection settings | Program settings | Add program to customize | Add by program name

add 3dsmax.exe

You should see a popup with various options. Scroll down to "Control Flow Guard (CFG)", check "Override system settings", and set it to OFF.
This is known to help in situations exactly like the one you described. The only doubt I have is whether other users connected it with autosave.
