[C4D] I need help! / Re: Corona VFB vs Picture Viewer

Yup same scene, same textures etc. The Corona benchmarks between out two machines are shown. His is only supposed to be twice as fast and yet it seems to get four times the speed using VFB…

No RSM warnings either.

Thanks for this James, I have checked the scores and my colleagues Mac should only be twice as fast. The issue here is that he seems to get faster renders through Corona VFB than PV whereas I don't. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong?

At least I know from those results you have posted it definitely isn't anything to do with only having 32gb RAM which I suspected.

[C4D] I need help! / Corona VFB vs Picture Viewer

Hi Peeps

OK I am using a PC with a TR 1920 CPU running at 3.5 ghz and when I render through VFB the test render I am doing takes 4 mins. When I do the same through Picture Viewer it takes the same. Now a colleague of mine has a Studio Mac which benches twice the speed of my PC using Corona Benchmark. He is rendering the same scene in VFB in just 1 min and yet it takes him 2 mins in Picture Viewer. He does have twice the RAM (64gb as opposed to my 32gb) as I do but I don't think that should make any difference.

What I want to know is how is he getting the 4x speed improvement in VFB over me? In theory my renders should only take twice as long…

Thanks Tom! Yes those render nodes look good and not so expensive :-)

@Maru

Tried your suggestion and it works like a charm! Now I can render and work at the same time - wonderful :-)

@TomG
I looked on the Corona website and can see no render node purchase options? Do you have to apply for those? $172 isn't too bad if you do a lot of rendering that adds up to £136 in the UK.

So if I had a lot of rendering to do I would need to buy say a monthly licence for my other machine which is roughly £57 per month? I have a year licence on my main computer. All seems like a lot of money per month for rendering…

Thanks for the replies peeps much appreciated.

So I didn't have a camera in this test scene anyway so I added a Corona camera. If you look at the images one is using the default intensity settings of '1' for sun and sky objects which makes everything bleached. The other I have set to 0.1 for both the sky and sun and looks much better…

I had been through several tutorials including the sun and sky one but nothing seemed to shed any light on this conundrum… Don't know why everything is so bright on the default settings?

[C4D] I need help! / Sun & Sky

Hi Peeps

I am very new to Corona and have just been experimenting with the Sun & Sky object/lights. I have noticed that when I create a Sun and a Sky and then just drop a cube into a scene sitting on a plain that when I render the scene it is VERY blown out… I am finding that I have to reduce the Intensity of both the Sky and Sun objects to 0.1 to get the brightness down.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Cambridge. Bit like using Redshift on C4D under Team Render you need another licence. About the only time you don't need another licence is when you use plain old Standard Renderer. Does all seem a bit moneytary…

[C4D] General Discussion / Team Renderer With Corona

Hi All

I am completely new here and this is my first ever post so if I get things wrong be patient :-)

I have installed the demo version of Corona on my PC and I wondered if I could use the same demo version on my Mac mini using team renderer?

No I realise that the demo is probably not a demo but a time limited full version of the app. I have checked in Team Renderer on my Mac mini and is shows Corona but it says it is not activated. Can someone tell me how to activate it or is it a case of having two Corona licences or something else?

Many thanks in advance.
