News / Re: Corona Renderer 1.7 for 3ds Max released!
« on: 2017-10-26, 18:21:41 »
Hi guys,

Is it possible to have an older version of Corona installed along with the newer 1.7 release? In the same version of Max.

Thanks!

[Max] General Discussion / Re: What type of BSDF is this ?

Thats iteresting... it seems that its only avaliable in slate edtitor mode (im still using classic). So 1 = Ward, 3 is ggx (by default right?) and what is 0 and 2?

Hi does anyone have a response to this?

Thanks

Sorry Maru, when you say Either in 1.2.1 and DB., do you mean that it will be possible in them versions of Corona?

Thanks Maru, that's a shame

Maybe he means that when he colour corrects in compositing using the element as a mask, he is getting a dark edge?

Has anyone tried using a standard 3ds Max Direct Light with Corona before? I can't get the soft shadows parameter to work. I have Corona shadows enabled too.

Thanks

Hi romullus,

It's always good to cheat, especially in TV series production. Sometimes realism isn't always what we want :) Thanks for the tip about the turbidity parameter.

I remember when using the same setup in Mental Ray a few years back, I felt the blue cast was always too much also.

Juraj, I agree, the CC node in Max is terrible ,but for certain situations it can be handy. The brightness parameter in it is so bad. It actually heavily affects the contrast of a texture, I avoid it as much has I can.

Thanks lads

[Max] I need help! / Corona Sky and colour correction node
« on: 2015-09-23, 18:21:05 »
Hi,

I am using Corona Sky in my environment slot. The blue cast is very strong. So I tried using a colour correct node to desaturate the Corona Sky. Is this common practice and has anybody ran into trouble with this workflow before?

Thanks!

Sorry, but this is not a very helpful error report. Please add some more details:
-what you were doing when it happened
-what version of 3ds max / Corona
-were you running IR?
-...

I was just doing an unfiltered zdepth local render. Nothing heavy. It has happened a few people on my team.

Hi I was juts wondering has anyone encountered this error message, I have been using Corona since March and this is the first time I have seen this. It says:

Halt! Exceptiontime! Exception: please report at http://forum.corona-renderer.com

Access violation - no RTTI data!

Thanks

Ah that's a pity, thanks.

We are currently using a workaround for doing it, so we can get by.

Thanks for the reply, glad you like our stuff

Hi,

I notice in the list of updates for 1.2 that Area to Render: Selected is now possible.

If anyone has used this, does this act like the subset of scene in Mental Ray? What I mean is does it render an object and cut out all unselected objects while still being able to receive GI and other contributions from the surrounding objects?

Thanks!

[Max] I need help! / Corona Ocean shader - like Mental Ray
« on: 2015-07-23, 12:24:02 »
Hi,

Does Corona have any kind of procedural map for water surfaces? Mental Ray has a really handy one (water, reflective surface (bump)), that's quite effective to use on flat surfaces.

Any thoughts are welcome :)

Thanks
