Title: Corona Crashes with Interactive Render
Post by: martinfdc on 2020-01-27, 16:35:02
On a specific file I have, Corona crashes when using interactive render. Corona is working fine with other files. What can I do to solve the issue?

Hi, Sorry to hear you are experiencing a crash. Could you please send us the crash report as mentioned in the error window? Other information would also be handy such as: OS version, Corona/Cinema version. If it's scene-specific, we would like to have a look at that file if possible? We have a private uploader that only the staff has access to. When saving from Cinema, please choose the "save project with assets" option to ensure all textures are linked to the scene. Some reproduction steps would also be great. Once we have all this we can investigate further to find the trigger.

Hi, may thanks for the prompt reply.

The file is currently being uploaded to the link you provided.

Here I provide the info you asked for:

OS Version: Mac OS Catalina 10.15.2 (19C57)
Coronarenderer 5 Hotfix 2
Cinema 4D RR21.115

Reproduction Steps:
Simply open the file then hit interactive renderer and Corona and Cinema 4D crashes on the preparing geometry stage.

Do you recall the name of the upload? I cannot seem to see it there. Thx

The name of the file is: Martin Fernandez de Cordova C4D Files.zip

I ended up uploading it with the Dropbox option as I was having trouble uploading the other way.

I would very much appreciate if you could give me a hint as of to what's going on with the file or if you could tell me how can I fix it. I have a meeting with the client on Friday and would like to start to render out some scenes.

Thanks in advance.

For internal, so we can find it in our bug tracker.

I experience the same problem since early version like 2 or 3, I have reported before and the problem seems to persist. In my case if I'm using IR  lets say 1000x1000 px  and the I wanna see some better details and change the res to something bigger, when I  start again the IR after change the res it eventually crash, it's not all the time but happens very often. I'm also on Mac version  Mojave 10.14.6  c4d R21.115

For crashes, be sure to send along the bug reports.txt and a screen grab of the error message received at the time of the crash. Also, would need to know OS, C4D version, Corona version, sounds like you have the steps laid out so that's good, the scene file can help (unless this is all scenes equally) - see https://help.c4d.corona-renderer.com/support/solutions/articles/12000033461-how-to-report-issues-c4d for how to send the scene file by private uploader etc.

Thanks Rafaz for sharing the issues you've had.

Beanzvision, any news on what the problem could be?

Hi Martin, still investigating, unfortunately. It will crash for me even on a Windows machine. My hunch is that it's related to a material that might be triggering the crash. If all the materials are removed, it will render as expected. A process of elimination is needed to go through your materials to find which one it might be. There's a lot of materials to sort through ;)

I've had this issue as well, however, in v5 it's better. Even fewer crashes when using the Render View option instead of the other window. In either case, if you try and move around too fast, or especially, if you use the F and G keys too fast in order to scrub in the timeline, crash.

Hi Beanzvision, have you manage to find the problem or are still investigating? Can't wait to fire up interactive renderer once again!
