Hi maru
Yes, of course. Pls see attached examples. This is not something related to this machine, this job, or this file (btw, it's a fresh file with nothing else in it apart from a plane with CoronaPhysicalMtl). This issue of CoronaBitmap displaying at fraction of the quality of std Bitmap in Max viewports has been nuisance for as long as I can remember. Now, it's entirely possible I have been missing sth simple all along, which wouldn't bad news if you could point me to a quick fix. All other parameters are kept equal.

Try to do comparison with all 3 textures options set to the same value, e.g. 4096. AFAIK Corona bitmap uses baked procedural maps, while standard bitmap uses texture maps. You may need to restart 3ds Max to see the changes.
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.

I think I found a solution. At least in case of this simple scene it fixes the issue completely. Low quality viewport display of CoronaBitmap only occurs at "Standard" viewport setting in Max. Change it to "High Quality" and it goes away. Be interesting to see if it helps others with similar problem.

Whenever I need to see a bitmap in detail in the viewport I know I need to use a regular bitmap node.
I thought that was a known issue with coronaBitmap.

Guys, if you can consistently reproduce a Corona Bitmap looking "worse" in the viewport, please send us a sample scene. I was not able to get anything meaningful.
On the other hand, whatever is happening here, it's probably handled by 3ds Max.
You may also need to check your GPU driver settings - things like anisotropic filtering, texture filtering quality, etc. I am sure those options affect texture quality in the 3ds Max viewport.

I just tested this again and it doesn't happen with the current Corona version.
In the past I was unable to see the actual resolution of an image on the viewport with coronaBitmap.
Not anymore.
