[Max] Daily Builds / Re: New VFB features
« on: 2016-02-01, 21:11:30 »
My 2 cents.

I start from this: every static render I do needs to be passet in photoshop (or similar, Adobe doesn't give me any money for this), for a lot of reasons, often just to give some more contrast or to do some curve corrections, other times to have a more drastic post production. That's the reason why we need render elements.

I think all post production requests, like curves, vignetting, saturation, ecc.., are kind of post we can easily have in post (I mean in photoshop). Also, I actually prefer to have a "raw" render ready to be edit in post than to have an already edited image. One more, very often every shoot of the same scene needs some different editing, so every setting in vfb should be camera-depending to be significant.

I think developers should be concentrated in other kind of improvement, like region render in vfb, or ability to load Corona exr into vfb, or light remapping or any other tools we can't have in post.

Peace and love to everyone,
Alessandro

Yeah man, a very well done job! I like so much the lighting, you've rendered a great white with a good light balance. What kind of light did you use for external env? Hdri? Sun system? Corona light?

Please, region render in frame buffer, I need it!! It's absolutely useful during editing, using Max region means to loose a lot of time :(

I like this.
Maybe a little glossy map for floor shader will improve it. Just a very little!!

Looks like child's room done right. For me everything is in really really good taste.
(maybe except the Mac, don't spoil your kids! ;) )
Maru, the Mac is to better connect the Iphone ;)

Btw, everything is good, but floor displace (or is a 3d model?) seems to be esagerate, too deep grout imho.

Thx for the model, I'd like to use it in a commercial interior scene I have to prepare soon, can I?

Maru, I've just opened the file and it run like a flash.
But, try this: turn off Lattice modifier and redo the render. Then turn it on again and redo the render.
Here it stop run fast and start the problem with acc. structure.

40
No other process is involved in the problem.
Later I'll try to restart my WS and test it again, I can't do it now.

It happens every time. With Intel embree on.
I had several tests, and in only one case it run correctly also with Intel embree, I suppose (I really can't understand the sequence...) when I move from BHV to Intel Embree and retry to render. But if you set Intel Embree, close and re-run Max, it happens. :(

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Looooong time building acc structure
« on: 2015-11-05, 16:04:48 »
Here a scene with only one object that makes building acc. structure become so slow.
Using BHV full SAH instead of Intel Embree in Acc. structure it run correctly. Tested with 1.3 Oct 16 on Max 2016 and Corona 1.3 RC7 on max 2015
Ondra, you was looking for a scene with this problem, now you have it.

Thx,
Alessandro

Hi Robin, sorry for the late, I've got a little car crash (...) and I read your message just now.
Yes, with UVW orientation it work correctly, on uvw maps direction.
Thanks.

It's not a bad start.
There is no deep in the image, no contrast, maybe too much light everywhere.
The reflection on the paint is too high, it seems a dark mirror, I can't understand if it is a mirror or a pain. Also try to add a little dof, just a little, it help to make it more realistic.
