Title: "Parsing the scene" step
Post by: Alessandro on 2013-03-20, 19:10:01
Hi everybody, I'm new in this forum!
Testing this cool render engine, in an existing scene, it takes a long (some minutes) time during "Parsing the scene" step, just before start with the render. During this time CPU use is about 8%... Is it me or is normal?
Is it possible to save scene parsing, and reuse it when we are working on the lights or materials?

Thx,
Alessandro

Unless you have really big scene, or displacement/textured lights, this is some problem in 3dsmax. There were other people with similar problems, but I was unable to reproduce it on my computer. You can post the scene statistics, or upload the scene to me privately (http://corona-renderer.com/upload). Or just try restarting max and merging it into new file, sometimes it helps.

The scene is not large. It has MR material, and I use a Corona material to override them.
Today I've just have a new test: if I convert all the MR material to corona, the Parsing time become very short.
I'm going to send you the file to your email, so you can have some test if you like.

Take care,
Alessandro

Edit:
please, don't share the sofa model, we design it for a client and we haven't the permission to share it. Thanks.

ok, I'll take a look. Don't worry about the models, I don't share the uploaded scenes with anyone and delete them as soon as I am done fixing a  bug

I would love to know also how to fix is as I had on a previous project and now I am having this also again.

Scene also is not big, rendering quite fast the parsing scene step is taking quite long.

Seriously what. So you fix problems privately on a public forum? No logic.

If you have problems, you may open support ticket: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new

Ranting here, won't help you much.

There was a bug 3 years ago which got fixed inside Corona so there is no point telling you what line of C++ code I had to change. The fix was since included in every build in the last 3 years.

Why do you even open 1 year old topic just so you can bitch? The forum even warns you not to re-open old topics needlessly when you post answer.
