The exterior is only placeholder lighting, I don't particulary like it :- ).

But it's single Daylight HDRi from CG-Source. Really no secret there. I just tried to find one that has pretty strong sun, to avoid gamma tinkering (which affects colors far too much and generally is shitty practice).
CG-Source has free samples, so just try few that you might like. And only if you need hi-res, buy that one.
I use only like 6 HDRi for everything :- ).

Yeah the raw render resume isn't exactly obvious.

Still don't sure what you ask for, you want to add Tonemapping to CoronaCam mode, or unlink that and keep all inside framebuffer as presets ? So when you change cameras between rendering you can keep your Exposure and Tonemapping adjustments.

Vlado from Vray contemplated idea of linking framebuffer adjustments to Camera. So if you adjust your image in frambuffer (color balance, exposure), next time it will keep those settings as they will copy to camera as well.

I am very confused what you ask for.

If you save as .exr, you can do any tonemapping you save preset for in your native app (or with fantastic plugins like AdobeCameraRaw inside PhotoshopCC, or ArionFX for Photoshop).
This lets you repeat your post-process for any amount of iterations. It's surely quite more practical and way better than doing so in framebuffer.

What would be the need for Corona proprietary format when Corona already uses .EXR both to include raw file, all channels and passes, but also to continue rendering on later. It already does everything you seem to ask for right now ?

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Corona Alpha4 Benchmark scene
« on: 2014-10-23, 16:33:49 »
Why is not? We are comparing different CPU in the same circumstances...

That doesn't make it accurate if the benchmark itself doesn't scale well, and it doesn't. Not only is it old (A4) but the way the HD Cache is set makes it scale (or basically ignore) badly on high-core CPUs, or double CPUs.
It's extremely confusing and should probably be already addressed because I am getting emails from people asking me why it doesn't work with their dual-xeons for example.

But it just goes on and on and everybody posts the same score all over and over like they would achieve something different. Like how many times for example does 4770k needs to be posted ? 50 times ?

Btw, the SHD's post basically shows nonetheless that 5960X is fantastic performer.

It does exactly what you say, have small freeze/lag.

Are you using a 3dconnexion device?
I'm afraid it could be the cause, I'm checking right now.

I used to, but it did the very same thing :- D I never found a way how to configure drivers to make 3D Connexion work good in anything other than simple scene in 3dsMax.

Shame because I love it but I don't have patience to search the retarded Logitech forums (I hate them so much, I hate the company too).

You don't have to use them, they're not necessity. Obviously it would be great if sampling algorithm could decide adaptively where to sample prioritively light (bidirectional sort of does) but it already does good job,
and portals often help best when the scenario is quite unique is size of the windows to room ratio being very small.

Also Corona's approach to portal light is simple and logical, it's just ray 'emitter', it does not become actual light source so you still get your realistic sun bouncing around without visual alteration, but you will get noise-free image faster.
I rarely use it (almost never) and I am doing just fine.

IT'SO F******** MISERABLE.

Man, what the hell, I mean, 2014 was so good right ?

It's the IDIOTIC LAYER MANAGER merged with scene states that's absolutely unusable for architectural scenes. Is it cool if you have 200 objects ? Absolutely, work almost like Onion manager, but the moment you have 2000+ objects,
it's not possible to do shit with it. It does exactly what you say, have small freeze/lag. When you close it, it gets better, but not even close to as good as 2014 was performance was.

It's shame, because the other new features like placement tool are godly but overall, horrible.

I am seriously keeping 2014, this is not worth to look at. Even with SP2 it's horrible, fucking horrible.

in the second pictures bed looks bad in the closeup- is very triangulated you need retopology for clean geometry

I already answered it twice, it's just normal map error I forgot about (because it was visible only under zoom), if you look at next image, it's corrected. I don't think it matters, since you have to look for it.

wood have little anisotroping, you need some variation in the reflectivity and glossy of the wood materials in the sceneq the wood materials sre very flat and uniform.

I know, 60perc. of wood materials in my work have anisotrophy, which I even stated in tutorials. But this is simple, flat wood, with only slight specularity (more natural).

Saying I need is strong word, if these are issues for you, than wait for my next personal non-commercial project, which is more polished than 12 images in 10 days ;- ). {there is also unpublished 'City' }

The most effective Forest_Night_8k.jpg
And as it is pleasant Forest_Vignette1.jpg - on the right наподобии a fog, it is postprocessing or effect from DOF?
Thanx!

Not sure what exactly you mean, but it's both. DOF is rendered, and you probably mean the seeming 'haze', but that's only lifted shadows.

Model 3-4 custom curved leaves, 4-6 polies, simple bend curvature and use as custom mesh geometry inside plugin. Easy, fast but does million dollar difference.

I can't stand the flat leaves, it's always so super obvious and ugly.

{I love modelling window spiders and glazing details}

Your first perspective does you great disservice. More abstract (85mm+ lens) shot with corrected verticals would put more emphasis on structural detail.

So how did your scene end up on wife's computer :- ) ?

Thanks All..

You have a very nice, soft (maybe bit cold) lighting. But there is something in corners that throws it slightly off to me...like some AO ?

Thanks for the comment Juraj :) Yeap thats AO Pass.. need to be more careful next time with it :D

I would avoid it completely. I hate AO. It's good feature to use as mask for material or effect blending, but as color overlay it's extremely obvious and fake. Leave it to to pre-2005 and american viz companies :- )

2p system doesn't take more maintenance than single cpu system these days. I have 2 dual xeons systems, with identical parts as my i7 workstations, except for motheboard and cpus obviously. Same memory, same ssd, same coolers, but that's beside the point.
Same maintenance (none).

The comparison of 5960X to 2p system was that it's almost getting to that sort of performance in single box, with still fraction of price compared to 2p system bringing it to affordable level for people who crave maximum performance in single box.

Of course you can buy 1.5 PCs worth with 5820K, you can also buy 2-3 PCs worth with 4770k, or 5 PCs of i5..or..always find the best value/performance. Except for that isn't the sole factor of choice for everyone. If it was, no one would be buying BMW car if they get almost the same (70perc.) performance for only half the price (Opel,Citroen, whatever there is) and buy two of them, one for wife or sister too. Performance/Value is only single metric, to some the most important, to some completely irrelevant.
Single, powerful workstation will still be valuable to lot of people, either enthusiasts or professionals. And now they can get it "cheap".

5820k is crazy deal from intel (finally), and great choice if you want to build semi-budget renderfarm (because the value/performance will be still better outside of LG2011 platform) or workstation. But that doesn't make it some sort of winner over 5960X. It's different CPU, for different people.
