Dear all,

We are mourning the unexpected passing of our beloved colleague Jaroslav Krivanek, who died as a result of an accident. We are deeply shocked. We loved Jaroslav and we will remember him as a great person, colleague, teacher and friend. He was the backbone of our R&D in Chaos Czech and a great leader.

We are sending our deepest condolences and sympathy to his family and loved ones.

Jaroslav was devoted to the lifting of our Chaos Research division. While we will carry on the development of Corona and related projects, our plans for a dedicated research department will have to be postponed.

A Release Candidate is close to being the final release, but we need your feedback to catch any remaining bugs or other issues from real world testing.

Corona Renderer 5 is focused on optimizing speed and reducing memory usage - here are some of the optimizations that this version brings:
- Caustics speed optimized
- Overall optimizations in geometry storage (most visible benefits will be seen with displacement, and scenes with very complex geometry)
- 2.5D Displacement introduced, for even more significant improvements to memory and render time savings when displacement is used
- Overall optimizations including for geometry pre-processing, scenes with a very large number of instances, the Corona ColorCorrect, and more!

And here are the changes since the last daily build (for those who have been testing as releases come out):

- Changed the way CProxy visualization method interacts with the "keep in memory" checkbox - All the visualization methods are now always available and when the method is set to full mesh, the "keep in memory" checkbox is disabled because we need the proxy data in memory to display full mesh
- Fixed caustics solver causing fireflies when glossiness of reflection or refraction is lower than 1
- Fixed CoronaDistance map not working in displace modifier
- Environment overrides have been moved from environment dialog back to render settings.
- Added checkboxes enabling generation of caustics to Sun, Light, LightMtl and Environment (this one is located in the caustics rollout in the render settings)
- Fixed some some scenes rendering much slower when both adaptivity and high quality filtering were enabled at the same time
- Fixed high quality filtering sometimes producing NaNs (producing completely black VFB with bloom & glare enabled)
- High quality filtering is now auto-disabled in IR when the IR preview denoiser is enabled
- Added checkbox to VFB history tab for switching between using the current or the stored postprocessing settings
- Updated Intel AI denoiser to version 0.9.0
  - Up to 38% lower memory consumption
  - The denoiser now displays its progress and can be cancelled
  - Few bugfixes
