it's possible with textured & fully directional Light material on a plane
but it tends to have soft shadows, is quite noisy and produces lots of fireflies

In example above "Prevent black appearance" is enabled but light source ain't reflected. IME for archviz, it's better to either make a simple encasement or, if you wanna add extra detail, use a plain with emissive texture.

Looks like there's a bug with Ambient Occlusion (Cinema's version).
Effect starts to appear at bottom of sphere, where ground (3rd object) is in range. But still, distances are ignored.
Didn't went deep in... depending on version used, please make a report on your observations in proper thread.

To achieve your goal, simply switch to Corona's AO and set properties accordingly.

I found out (so it's speculated) that UE5 uses Godot's GI model. Tested it some time ago and it did "Goood!"
Worth checking, if you're up for it. (I have other priorities for now...)

Also, have you tried or looked at CryEngine?

Development usually follows S-curve and disruption has come to rendering in form of Hybrid XPUs use, AI assistance... (even light baking would be beneficial a whole lot)... still, for Corona there aren't any intentions to stay in the loop. So will it stay behind? Since at a moment it just seems getting overwhelmed, complex and confused while some fruits are already dropping off before the harvest...
IDK... I hope not.

An exemplary test scene or an image with settings described in detail would be much preferred and probably work better for problem solving.

 Render settings > Corona > General settings / Render Overrides

Set Volume to "Single Bounce only" & make it's mapping "Step size" larger

I found it somehow hard for Corona to clear noise (finding light in Volume) near its source

Could also be a thing within your scene.
To check, create a new scene and copy/paste everything from old one.

There's still no new Corona standalone to begin with. We'll most likely see after release, how much interest and motivation there really is.
