[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Re: Bump Issue
« on: 2020-04-18, 11:57:16 »
Thanks!
Frustrating isn't it. I mean, like I said, it's basic things that every 3d artist needs. I just don't get it that Corona for C4D is at V5 whilst those key elements of rendering still are very buggy and weird to handle.

Let's hope for the best in V6.

As far as the bump issue, I couldn't figure out why it happens so I should report it as a bug I guess.

Yes, that is pretty much what happened.

at first i got into a fight with the normal noise type, which worked fine without a layer shader. Once inside the layer shader and multiplied with some scratches bitmap, the bump just disappeared. Turbulence however seems to work, but with a different look when rendered inside the vfb.

[edit] fiddlin around a projector map inside the glossiness slot of the reflection made the bump dissapear completely again. *Sigh*

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Bump Issue
« on: 2020-04-17, 15:07:53 »
Hi Guys,
Corona user for a few years now.. accomplished a lot of nice projects with this render engine!

Needless to say: layer stacking in the bump channel is a real pain in ass.. from the beginning there are numerous issues regarding stacking of noises with the layer shader. This is a shame, creating original complex materials are fully dependent on layer stacking. Other engines are perfectly capable of using layers and layer stacking, why is it such an issue with Corona for C4D?

I ran into it again while starting a new project, please take a look at the attached images. Maybe the issue here is somewhere between the chair en my keyboard, in that case i'd love to hear a solution!

Thanks!

Very nice series of images, love the light and the mood you are putting here!

The images with the grapes feels a bit odd is this, it somehow misses a vertical element that binds the other images. Also, imho, the leave of the grape could use some extra attention.. it seems to be a little 'perfect' (as it would be made from plastic)

[C4D] I need help! / Re: Corona material display in viewport
« on: 2019-10-10, 13:18:03 »
As far as I know this is not possible (I believe only with standard c4d mats).

What I usually do:
Make a new material with the texture you want to see on your model inside the diffuse channel.
Make a copy of the material in the objects manager
Alt-drag your new created material on the copy of the material (so it keeps the same uvw settings). Change the preview settings inside the material to preview in better quality.

I know, it is a crap workaround, but it works.

Thanks for your reply and your willing to look into it. I will prepare a scene later today.

Great! The reflecting trails are really nice! I would spend a few minutes on remodelling the cap though, to make it even more convincinng.

[C4D] I need help! / Highlight fireflies

Hello fellow Corona users,

I'm busy with a scene which has a strong dof and is lit by a sunny hdri. The problem is I can't get rid of the fireflies that appear in the highlights. I tried various solutions but nothing seems to work properly:

Changed the sampling balance to different settings (from 16-2 to 4-2 to 8-4 and so on) as explained in the different topics about this problem.
Blurred the HDRI
Changed reflection and refraction to a slight blurred reflection/refraction
Denoiser (firefly only and high quality)
Highlight clamping

The attachment is a rendered region of about 300 passes.

I am curious what else could work in this specific case. Thanks in advance!

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Condensation Technique
« on: 2019-06-27, 10:10:50 »
I'm not sure what the GG droplet cloner thing is (do they have a plugin for that as well?) but I would go for the Mograph option.

Model a few drops, put them in a cloner and use a push apart effector to keep the droplets from intersecting each other. To top things off you could use a shader effector to make the scattering less repetitive.
I used to use forest pack in max to create these droplets, but with the multi instances inside the cloner object option it is not really an issue to scatter 10000 droplets over a surface. Maybe this is a bit more trial and error (i guess that is what cgi is all about) but you'll get a unique condensation on your object instead of a map that has been used many times already.

Good luck!

Hi y'all

I am currently working on images of a boat. I've created a plane of water which is displaced by HOT4D and noise maps in both bump and displacement. Very nice. The obvious problem is the size of the plane. Is there a way in using some shader in a smart way that I could use to push the water to the horizon?

Thanks in advance!

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: materials
« on: 2019-03-01, 09:01:55 »
It is quite a bummer Corona for C4D doesn't come with a simple standard lib4d file containing a bunch of metals, plastics, liquids, etc.. I think the devs overlook the importance of adding a tool like that. For many people it can help them getting fast results or figure out how materials are configurated and adapt them to their own needs. This can eventually lead to a subscription after the demo period.

But hey, there is some good news: Siger Shaders!

I'v invested in Siger Shaders and although it is not cheap, the materials are really good.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Re: Hair won't render

Hi,

Thank you for the scene. Rendering stucks in "Preparing" phase what is Cinema phase and Corona hasn't been started yet. You can observe the same problem at Standard/Physical renderer, but I noticed that you have a strangely high count of hair guides, please decrease the count of hair guides to much smaller value and use hair count instead to set the density of rendered hair.

Best regards
Nikola

Thanks Nikola,

So nothing Corona related, sorry about that. I've reduced the amount of guides and renders fine now. Must be the high number of polys why Cinema put so many guides there.

Thanks,

I've uploaded the scene file: AKG_K271MK2_Corona.zip through the uploader.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Hair won't render
« on: 2018-09-03, 12:01:29 »
Hi there!

I did a global search on the forum about this issue, couldn't find anything similar.

I have a fabric object that I want to have hair. Setup was pretty straighforward and renders also quite fast in the viewport (after 17 seconds it starts rendering - 2 hair objects, 700000 hairs in total).
The problem is that as soon as I want to render the image in the picture viewer, it hangs on the first stage 'preparing'. I've let it prepare for more than one hour, but doesn't do anything. It neither crashes, I'm still able to stop the render and quit the picture viewer.
Deleting the hair objects and inserting new hair objects with a lower hair count (initial - 5000 hairs) has the same problem. Renders fine in the viewport, nothing happens in the picture viewer.
