Work in Progress/Tests / Re: The Lineal - wip

1, make sure you do not use super bright materials (above RGB 220) as that can slow down rendering a LOT

2, No need to get rid of HDRI, instead, place planes into window openings (make sure to match them exactly) and apply CoronaPortalMTL to them. Portals may actually slow things down, if they are placed incorrectly.

3, Make sure you use HDcache as secondary GI.

4, Did you change any render settings from their defaults?

Thanks Raw, I will follow your advice, I use all default settings and HDcache as secondary GI, also used CoronaPortalMTL + HDRI in the first tests, but I feel that HDRI doesn't give as much detail in the moldings as does the new direct lights.

progress update - got rid off hdri, instead now using planes with corona light material only (no environment light), starting to see small details in the crown.
default settings, no post.
still have that snow like noise... after 50 passes, next time will try 100 passes.

Work in Progress/Tests / The Lineal - wip
« on: 2014-06-11, 00:56:51 »
So I decided to make personal project completely in Corona, I will be doing both interior and exterior designs, for this particular project I envision an existing building from 1900s renovated with all modern / contemporary furniture, not too cluttered.   The main goal is to practice Corona and try to make best possible results with little noise, I do not plan to go over 2 hour limit per rendering, since I am used to Vray and 2 hours is kind of maximum of what I can allow during client projects to meet the deadlines.

This is RAW rendering, with just 1 layer of contrast in photoshop, so far I find Corona very powerful tool, just need to work on reducing the noise and show more details, such as the more intricate moldings in the crown of the ceiling, they look a bit too flat and not noticeable.  HDRI is the only source of lighting with CoronaMTLportal plane at the windows, plus small sphere lights for the floor and ceiling lamps.

Anyway, here is recent progress, I will try to post new progress once a week, hope you can give me some advice to make it look better.

More HDRI map control will be awesome, instead of using vrayHDRI map!

Hi all, I see alot of great renders done with corona and decided to give it a try too.
I usually render interiors with many lamp shades, and use vray 2sided material alot, was wondering if this material is also available in corona?
