this issue is only happening with Corona light mtl and not with Corona physical material. You can test it. & there are other cases as well where using volume effect is breaking things but those are different issues. In general, most of these cases are reported and are being looked at.
What I meant is that it doesn't seem logical to suggest increasing exposure in a CC node specifically since the plane in front will still render brighter. So if you brighten the background up in CC, it'll render even brighter, still.

Sorry, I don't understand. I think we are discussing two separate things. Can you explain why would "plane in front will still render brighter" with Corona physical material?

The problem did not go away, the 3ds max 2025 corona 12-1 bundle. Went through Hell to understand the essence of the problem.
Will there be a solution to this problem?


We have already sent everything we could from our end to Asustator support. We are still waiting to hear back from them. It would be better to directly get in touch with them as a user if you are using there NAS, so they have more data to work with and provide a solution.

Hi All

Im not sure if theres a work around or if this is just a limitation with Volume effects.

Theres a blue halo inside the volume grid box if volume effect in corona sky is enabled. I know iv gone agreesive with the volume effect scale but is there a way to remove the blue halo without reducing the scale? See screenshots, 1st image with volume effect, 2nd image without volume efflect.

Hi Devs

Something that has been bothering me for years.  When you do a render and have bloom ON and THEN you want to REGION render an area, the bloom disappears when you re-render (ie when you have the 'clear VFB between renders' checked OFF).
is this something that can be fixed?

For now, you can use corona physical material with self-illumination or use Corona color correct to increase exposure of your backplate as a workaround.

I'm finding the VFB in Corona 12 to be much slower as well.  Turning on and off the tone mapping stack takes longer than it should to register

Not kept up with the forum and development lately, but I just updated and I'm in shock here!

The UI has less readability and functionality and it takes up more screen space. The tabs aren't evene tabs anymore, just floating text. This looks like it's a internal test version or something. I'd be all for an "expert mode kind of UI" but then buttons need to be like 12px high winamp style. Or maybe I got some weird scaling issue? The VFB top toolbar/gray area with icons is about as high as TWO toolbars in the 3dsMax UI.

If I had a bit more time I'd do some paintovers/mock-ups for how to improve this.

Do I have to restart Max for the VFB to change back to the old one, because just changing in system didn't work. I'll go back to 11 if this is the way it's going to be.


BTW, it doesn't feel great at all to be posting negative comments like this, but I'm really starting to worry about Corona development.

Reset button should also work but if it does not, restarting it will definitely set your vfb to old vfb , if you have already done it in system tab.

I know. I just want to know if other people have the same issue, and I need help now and not in 2 days.

Our team will get back to you asap if you have already submitted the ticket but just in case, can start the license server service from the start menu in window. "Start...", in case it does not solve, you can try resintalling chaos license server from download.chaos.com. If the issue persists then you will need to wait for the team reply to help you.

In Corona 12 Hf 1: In the Scene Environment section, you'll find a new dropdown menu labeled "0 objects excluded...". To exclude objects from environment illumination: Select the objects in your scene that you want to exclude. Click the "+" button next to the dropdown to add them to the exclusion list
