Hm! What a coincidence. I was just asking a question about HDRLS and Corona. Is Corona fully supported?
Edit: Seems like it is! Now there's just the small matter of motivating the price increase for the customer. :D

Is it as clean and useful as it seems? Care to elaborate on your workflow?

Using 3dsmax color correction node always makes rendering slower.

Just to be clear, the output node is still fine to use, right? So you could "clamp" the bitmaps with that without messing with the render time significantly?

There aren't many cohesive full-scale tutorials that are worth it, but there is a lot of spread out knowledge.

I can add that http://masteringcgi.com.au/ Grant Warwick's tutorials are quite good too, even though they are mostly about v-ray you can pick up lots of interesting stuff from them.

Work in Progress/Tests / Re: trying to build up a scene
« on: 2016-03-21, 21:44:38 »
This is a level beyond most stuff I've seen lately.
A question: Have you tried the ThinFilm plugin to get some subtle rainbow hue to those welds/chrome shaders?

I really like the bloom thing going on in the window!

[Max] I need help! / Re: displacement
« on: 2016-03-08, 09:40:47 »
Have you tried playing around with the "luminance center" setting in the displacement? Are you using the modifier or piping a map into the material? In the material there is a min- and max-level setting. Try setting the min level to a negative value.

Gallery / Ctek CTX Battery Sense animation breakdown
« on: 2016-02-22, 21:42:25 »
I did a short breakdown of my animations in the Ctek CTX Battery Sense commercial clip.
I used Corona Render of course, and Black Magic Fusion, for color grading and compositing.

(the vimeo link thing doesn't seem to work BTW)

If it's only about transformations not beeing reset, then it's not a bug really - you should always reset transforms. I can't recall having any misalignement problems when converting CScatter objects to mesh.

Actually, resetting the xform and collapsing the mesh seems to have fixed the problem alltogether! I had not encountered a problem with this until now and I thought it seemed a bit buggy, but you are right, you should always reset your transforms.

26
The problem seems to be less if you reset the xform of the instanced objects and collapse them again to editable polys.
The rotation is still a fair bit off, but at least they dont translate a meter away in some direction..

27
Tried setting everything to xyz 0,0,0 but no change.

28
When I click "convert to max geometry" I expect a mesh that is similar to the scattered one, but the instanced objects are scattered (heh) all over the place.
The blue grass blades in the picture are the converted meshes, the selected bunches are the scattered meshes.

I have a group in 3ds max with several groups in it. I know, I don't like groups, but sometimes you have to.
I'm trying to mask the top group, but the groups within the groups don't show up in the selection dialog, nor in the mask.

Would try that wine... oh, wait no alcohol?

I know, right? But it is actually very tasty! I had some this new years eve while cooking the food. Not the sweet black currant stuff with loads of sugar and stuff, but raw taste. :)
