I am rendering an animation with alpha. I am rendering as an image sequence. What's the best file type to use? I'll be bringing it into After Effects for compositing. My current settings aren't bringing in a proper bloom and glare effect. Also, is the only way to render animation through C4D's picture viewer?

I personally use PNG or TIFF. I haven't had any issues with bloom/glare not coming through using PNG.

The bloom and glare issues could be coming from the 8 bit depth you're rendering at.. Use 16 bit!

TIFF allows 32 bit depth but i think the files are a bit larger.

Ahhh, that could be why! I was rendering in 8-bit.

Thanks!!

Okay this still isn't working properly for me. I have attached a scene file. If you render it, you'll see it saves 3 files:

Virtual Beauty
Bloom Glare
RGBA

The RGBA file does not have bloom and glare coming off it, however the virtual beauty pass does. I added a Bloom Glare pass, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

I'm trying to render an animation with a custom background I made in After Effects. It would be nice to get that bloom and glare. What am I doing wrong?

It should be possible to render:
-the "main" output consisting of beauty + bloom and glare
-beauty without bloom and glare separately (virtual beauty)
-bloom and glare pass only, which should save the bloom and glare on a black background - easy to composite

If something is not working right, please report it as a bug.

I also have issues with the Bloom & Glare pass, the effect comes through in the image but the dedicated pass is empty

Is this a bug or a mistake on my part in setting it up?

Seems to be a bug, the bloom and glare pass in C4D shows as black. It's on the bug reporting system (Mantis) : https://corona-renderer.com/bugs/view.php?id=2667

Greetings everyone. I'm noticing that this error is still present in Cinema 4D 2023 - Corona V9. Any hopes of getting it sorted or has anyone found a way around it.

Seems to work for me on Mac C4D r25 and Corona 9. Maybe you didn't select the Multi-pass save section?
