I noticed the same issue. The difference is rather big. I am on a Mac Studio C4D 2023 & v9 daily build.
Also rendering Lightmix settings, the CR lights don't not show up in the C4D picture viewer.

Saving all dims the channels for CR lights. I get the sky and sun but the CR lights are all black.

Is that correct, do I need to set the blur scale at every bitmap. Seems an impossible task especially with vegeatation (dozens and dozens of textures). Btw did you know that the asset browser duplicates every same material for each placed asset.

Problem solved and had to globalize files names in the Project Asset Inspector.
But I never had to do this before.

Bitmaps in the Corona render materials do not copy paste from one file to another. Once copied the materials show up black in the preview and model views. Also these bitmaps do not copy into the the asset browser where the previews are also rendered black.
We had this problem before I think a while back.
When I use the project asset inspector I can relink the materials but they stay black. When i edit the material and click on bitmap for a colour the right map is shown but at render or in the preview it stays black. Only when I manually open the bitmap and re-assign it the material is good again. Need to do this for all assigned bitmaps in the material.
It does not always happen but some materials are hard to work with because of this.
It happened when using a Maxtree asset and copied the asset to a different location on my hard disk. Then I relinked all bitmaps and it looks all right. I can open the Maxtree asset in C4D and it renders fine. But when I copy this asset to another open file the above mentioned happens.

I noticed the same problem too. Saw the bark textures from maxtree blur horribly at a distance. So I need to set the blur scale at min. 100%. Will try that. Hope this gets fixed because to adjust all these textures will be a drag.

Material color sliders basically don't work. Or very bad. Luckily you can just type in the desired percentages.

I haven't noticed that.
Mac Studio Ultra 128GB 20 core. R26 & v9 latest build.

I did notice that rendering a 2,8 Gb C4D file with a lot of vegetation ( large housing project with 4 highrise buildings) did not crash once the last week or so. A lot of Choas Scatter objects as well. Been doing lots of IR checking lighting and so on. I was actually surprised how solid the latest build is.

There is one thing though, the sliders in many settings don't work or are very slow. I often need to type percentages in CR settings for example in the post settings at rendering.

I do think a lot in C4D's updates has made sense recently and needed to be. Updating plugins and the work involved is better than an outdated C4D.
If you look at Blender and Unreal Engine things are changing fast. At this moment C4D still is for me the only option in combination with Vectorworks to have such fantastic assets for vegetation and all you need for Archviz. There is just nothing out there that gives me the same workflow and even on the latest m1 and m2 Mac's as well. Vectorworks is decades behind current developments regretfully. Whish they moved forward like Maxon does at whatever the cost of compatibility. If an application becomes obsolete over time all the training and experience becomes as well. It will happen to C4D and CR one day but I really hope not any time soon.

Well, I am sure at Chaos they will let us know soon.
But I think the current releases of C4D are new feature and feature updates much more than major changes in the modeling engine. So plugins require less work to be made compatible I hope.

A problem I noticed with R26 and CR is that not all materials convert well into the asset browser. Since I hhave a very fast ssd and Maxon changed the asset browser to be able to show assets without having to download them all I use the asset brower all the time. A huge time saver. Although Chaos Cosmos is great too it would be better if you could choose to have all Chaos assets available in the C4D asset browser.  Especially the feature to have personalised versions of assets is fantastic in the C4D asset browser.

I am beginning to notice that asset management is very important in Archviz projects. The amount of assets is just unbelievable and they come from dozens of resources. One of the main reasons for me to work with CR is that resources and assets are often provided in CR render format.

Does the latest build v9 work with the latest release of C4D 2023 ?

100% convert does not work in most cases but still converting materials saves me a lot of work, probably most of the work.
