[C4D] I need help! / Re: Animation noise issue

Really appreciate your help. I'll play around with the settings, but what a pain in the neck. What should be simple turns into a nightmare.

I hope developers put some effort into that to make the user's life simpler. Honestly, I always had the idea Corona could solve most of the problems, but I've already had quite a few issues which is compromising.

Appears to be adaptivity issue. Disable it. (Yes, it's an old bug.)

What kind of bug are you referring to? Has it already been reported to Chaos?

I'll test it out. What exactly did you change in the render settings, GI solver set to 4k?

Found this information from Maru in other post which makes sense:

4K Cache is similar to the UHD Cache in the way it works and how it should be used, however it has slightly different properties. Most of all, it should never flicker, even when calculating it from scratch for each frame. The pattern of the 4K Cache should also be more consistent when rendered on different computers. It should be a better choice for animations (be it calculating from scratch for each frame or appending to the existing calculation). It should also calculate faster.

Still can see that fine noise sparkling over, that's very weird.

I've already done that, and to be honest, had no difference at all. Have you tested it and it worked for you? That's not a compression file type issue, I guess. You can play the frames in AE and you will end up with the same noise issue.
That's a pretty simple texture and I hope it is not a software limitation.

Hi guys,

I've been trying everything but can't get rid of this noise when animating it.

It happens even if you leave the object static in the scene.

Any advice on that? I'm pretty sure I'm missing some settings here in order to get it smooth and clean.

Appreciate any help

Maybe something should be reviewed in order to make it more accurate/intuitive.
Have you looked at our online articles? What exactly are you trying to make anyway? Do you have a real-life reference image?

Hey, I follow the You Tube videos on Corona's channel, but honestly the usage of volumetrics is still not well covered. Sorry if I'm taking the wrong approach, I'm just trying t get familiar with the the new materials but I'm struggling yet as I reported above.

Care to share scene file exposing an issue and exclude some guessing?

Try converting that material to physical one, it won't work. Now, try to achieve the same visual with Physical material just with the basic parameters. I couldn't.
When I say I'm not comfortable, I'm exposing a user's point of view. I'm not claiming that the feature doesn't work. MAYBE, I said, it can be improved for a better user experience.

Hi Guys,
Still not quite comfortable with physical materials, when trying to achieve some sort of translucent matte rubber material for instance, I can't achieve the same result as I get with legacy material. When you apply volumetrics scattering it messed up with roughness parameter. Maybe something should be reviewed in order to make it more accurate/intuitive.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. A really time saver for complex materials.

Honestely Windows 10 offers full core usage and Window 10 is able to handle all of them. Some apps have significant improvements over Windows 11, but also some games are doing much faster in Win 10.
The point is, for working with 3D applications, forget about Windows 10. Also, it is worth remembering that most of the commands executed are single core processing and having high clock speeds also prevents bottle necking your graphics card.
If you can invest in a really good cooling system, you can get even higher clocks over clocking it.

That's cool. Have no idea how to set it ip. Would you mind to share a picture of your node editor with that set up?

Are you using Windows 11? The Intel Alder Lake CPUs are known to have low performance issues on Windows 10 or older.
Can you explain what exactly you mean? I want to set up a new computer in the near future and favor WIN 10.
Today you won't find a faster single clock speed than the 12900K, from my experience I'll give you my thoughts. Really fast processor which offers support for DDDR4 and 5. Also Pcie 5.0. The only drawback that I found is, it runs hot man.
And yes, Corona in 3DS Max can't handle all the cores. In C4D not an issue at all. I'm pretty happy with Win 11, coming from Mac OS I still think windows pretty bad but I'm learning to live with. Apple prices are hillarious, out of reach.

I would suggest:
- Lowering Performance > Max Sample Intensity as much as possible (you can use IR to preview its effect - at some point the image will become too dark)
- Lowering Performance > Max Ray Depth (same as above - at some point the image will become too dark/unrealistic)
- Increasing Performance > GIvsAA from the default 16 to 32, maybe even higher. This will make rendering "slower" meaning that one pass will render slower, but it will give you better quality of SSS effects in the end.

Hey there!
Those parameters seem not to offer too much in render times for this scene. I'm really happy with the volumetric effect, but render times are insane. How long will it take for a 6k image?
Is it normal to take all that long? Honestly, that's a very simple scene with very few objects compared to what Corona can handle like landscape scenes for instance.

I too am using the same "technique" as John_Do outlined above. You can use F1 through F4 keys (default hotkeys to switch to a certain viewport) on your keyboard to then quickly switch between your "camera" viewport and your "working in it" viewport :)

Using the F keys alternates the panels, not the camera projection. I've set mine to work like in 3DS Max. Specially for those who do not like the 4-view layout, the F keys shotcuts IMO don't work quite nicely. The only drawback I found was when you switch between camera projections, C4D doesn't keep the zoom level, then you have to keep reframing all the time.
