So I'm rendering a cloud openvdb I downloaded for a test. I have a global volume material. The result shows that the openvdb as a whole is rendered as a cloudy box. I used inside and outside volume to test if that was the problem but that didn't solve it.
Am I missing something here?

Attached two images, one with the problem and one with only sun and sky and a cloud.

I'm trying to create a night scene with lots of atmospheric fog and if possible openvdb / volumegrid clouds.

It's a known limitation - currently Corona can't properly render nested/intersected volumetrics.
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.

Added this as a specific example of known limitations: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000040687

Is this still a thing in Corona 5 ? Asking because I've setup a new scene with a few vdb's and a global volume.
Still showing a bounding box.

When will this be fixed or am I missing something?

Quick test. It seems to work as expected, however maybe it depends on the specific VDB? I am attaching my max scene, without the VDB file, so you can try it yourself in V5.

Make sure your camera is outside the bounding box of all vdb grids.

So I only changed the vdb with my own. I created this in Embergen. If you look closely the bounding box is visible when global smoke is on.
