Extremely excited for DR :- )

Maly joke, dnes mi pomerne zvlastne napisali priamo z Chaosu na Facebook, preco menim na Coronu a s cim som nespokojny :- ) Siggraph zavidim !

Hi Daniel,

yes, uvw laziness :- ) I have the HDRi inside VrayHDRi map, for comfortable rotating, then put inside Max Environment slot.

Ah the glass is simple convert, although it's really the same only refraction is set to Solid in objects, and Hybrid in Windows (I have thick glass in windows, double paned).
It's pure black diffuse, full refraction, full reflection (1.6 IOR).
The DOF seem to not add to render times at all, but does introduce noise that gets cleared by AA, so I've seen the advice to lower PT samples in DOF renders to speed up this.
I render over-nights, so I am not sure when it is acceptabily clear :- )

This is 3930k, not clocked, haven't run the benchmark, so you have to check the thread, there are many with same processor, and same result (5 mil rays/s) and 4 minutes ? Not sure from head.

Nice :- ) Is the disp done within material ? Haven't checked yet how displacement works within Corona

Since my computers have some free time over nights, I experiment with re-rendering some scenes with new shots in Corona. Shots with rendered DOF is something I avoided, but I think that is past now ;- ) Here, something to start with, PT16+HD1024, rendered in 4k. Like always, very enjoyable experience, I specially like how glass turned out, with the quite numerous refraction inside solid parts !

published on my blog too https://www.facebook.com/jurajtalcik.visualizations we'll see how many people will bite the bullet :- )

Thanks for update, appreciate it leaves my VrayHDRi alone :- ) Most handy tool !

According to this post, all seems rather well with the E5 gen, look at those 20mil/ray/sec :- )

Interesting, the sandy xeon platform should have quite a memory bandwich. If one would lend you such machine for some time, is this something you would be willing to test Keymaster eventually :- ) ? I think able to get the most out of server machines might be quite important soon, as Ivy bridge gen xeons are approaching by 2014, with down to Octo-socket (and up to 256 cores I think). Also, I hope I am not lonely with my investments into them (I dread the idea of 20 small boxes as "personal renderfarm"...so I opted for easily mantenainced multi-socket xeons who also make nice workstations.

Edit: Hmm, pure chaos what I wrote, I wanted to distilly this longer into some meaningful blog post, so don't take me too much for wording ;- )

2Keymaster: That's it ! Not at the office at the moment but you are correct, all my metals are blended, even when off during current scene (it doesn't blend them same way as I am used to from Vray but I kept it anyway). Thank you ! Where can I educate myself more about bidir in Corona ? Searching fails me

2Laci, thanks to this :- ) I probably should have stated the scene renders completely correct otherwise. I don't change stats or mats into dumb state. It only occurred when I switched to bidir mode.

I am sorry about the lack of screenshot and scene, but I thought this would be fairly simple scenario from description. It indeed was :- )

How "old" ;- ) ? The best fixie 3d model is at design-connected http://www.designconnected.com/category/accessories/Fixie-Bike_p5081 or this one is decent too http://3dsky.org/modules/files/showfile.php?lid=22809

The E5 result looks pretty bad...something I was quite worried about. Judging by 3930k unclocked score of roughly 5mil rays, the dual top E5 should easily scale to atleast 10. They quite do so in all synthetic tests, and practical Vray benchmarks too.

Uff, Octane, then Vray. Some stint with Maxwell as well :- )

I've been trying the bidirectional, but in every mode I tried (Bidi pathtracing, VCM,..) it seems materials that I have high fresnel number on (40), eg my metals, mirrors, render pure black in color.
The scene is lit by HDR and portal lights.
I can't seem to find anything much about bidirectional mode searching the forum. Anyone can share some light :- ) ?

You can share the image directly, not through upper web link but instead click on the image, "copy image location", you can also put it in [img] then here. Atleast I think it should work

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Corona Alpha4 Benchmark scene
« on: 2013-06-16, 19:18:18 »
In simpler scenes, i4770 might come close to i3930, but in no way are they at equal perfomance in Vray :- ), wtf. I have both 3930k and 3770k (5perc. slower than 4770) and difference is exactly where it should be, close to 40perc.

Anyway, can anyone test it at current Xeon generation ? Is there any problem in perfomance scaling to dual cpus or xeon platform ? For example in 2x2867 E5 Xeons (16cores=32 threads).
