I've got a stone wall created out of a single mesh.  I'm using C4D's variation shader to assign random textures to individual blocks that are defined with polygon selection tags.  The bottom half of the wall seems to work fine, but when you get towards the top, the selection tags fail.  The material is applied with cubic mapping and each selection tag has a unique name.  Has anyone run into this and if so, do you have a solution?  Does the variation shader have a limit as to how many selection tags it will recognize?  I am using R21 and prior to this, this method worked just fine.

Hi there, Well that's a bit strange. Are you able to send use the scene via our private uploader? https://corona-renderer.com/upload

As a side note, have you tried using the new Corona multi shader for something like this?

beanzvision - thanks for the reply.  This object was placed under a subdivided surface.  Catmull-Clark made a mess of things, but switching to OpenSubdiv Catmull-Clark kept all the polygon selections intact.  This seems to be a problem with Cinema 4D as I had the same problem in C4D's standard renderer.

Oh, I see. I appreciate you testing it with their renderer too. It might be worth mentioning it to their support also if you haven't done so already.

maybe our new plugin Q-Tile-PRO| surface engine might be interesting for you for such things:)

https://q-tilepro.com/

it works natively with c4d and corona!

i will make an official post here later in the forum

cheers

Hi Stefan.  That's a very useful shader.  I've wanted something like this for years.  In fact, I recommended the function of drawing your own patterns to the developers of DarkTree years ago (remember them?).

I spent the last 20 minutes reading the site and watching your video.  Is it capable of assigning random textures to individual polygon objects or selection tags?  Or is it necessary to create your own pattern or use the ones available in the library?  Thanks.

yes of course, via tile pro, to any tile pro shapes, tile pro works on any geometry or selection tag. from c4d side it is seen as normal c4d shader
