Most Max related answers apply to C4D as well.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Re: Animate Corona Sun Object
« on: 2017-06-27, 23:15:15 »
Have you tried to apply a C4D sun tag and animate the values in there?

903
You might also increase Internal resolution to 2.

But only if you still can find a version of Corona old enough to still have this option ;)

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Need help for Volumetrics

Try the following:
Set Absorption color to a light gray (not white), directionality in Scattering to something between 0.5 and 0.9 and go on from there,

Hope this helps,
Michael

Aha, this is strange. I only have Standard and Physical renderers in Cinema R17. I do have other versions, but don't try them out so often... In any case, thanks for the report and we'll look at this wehn we have time!

Don't worry about the nomenclature here, "Advanced Renderer" is what MAXON calls their renderer(s) in the Visualize, Broadcast or Studio editions. That's for "Standard" as "Physical" as well, an umbrella term. So looking into the Online Help, you'll find "Standard" and "Physical" under "Advanced Renderer".

HTH,
Michael

And thx for looking into this issue. It really almost killed my brain ;)

906
Do other renderers render the object just fine? By "AR", you meant Arnold Renderer?

While this problem might only be connected with Reeper now, it might hint on some subtleties with object conversion that could be source of trouble even with other plugins, so it's good that you are reporting this.

AR is Advanced Renderer (the one that comes with C4D).

And I am always glad to help. Corona is such a great piece of software!

907
Hi Mike!

Did you try to confirm that the artifacts are really caused by Corona-Reeper interaction? If you uninstall Reeper, will the problem still persist?
No need to uninstall Reeper even, just convert the Reeper objects to standard Sweep objects by pressing "C" and the scene will render fine.
I also removed Reeper, but then there's nothing to render and no error, of course.

908
It is nothing that could not be worked around (converting the ropes or just re-arrange the objects in the OM), but it is strange and does not happen with the AR. So it is an odd occurrence and who knows in what other combination it might happen again.

The artistic outcome is great though ;)

edit: And thank you.

909
It's bad, actually, because it involves another 3rd party plugin (Reeper, for making coiled ropes), so I am not sure if I should be worried or just sell the result as art^^

It needs Reeper and hair in the same hierarchy, if you move up the novachord null out of "everything", there are no artefacts.

This one is killing me. Had it before in this scene, but now it is back and I am clueless!

Rendering with the novachord object as a child of "stuff", gives me artefacts.
Rendering with the novachord object on top of it, gives me no artefacts.

I am puzzled.

Latest weekly (May 17, little longer than a week ago ;)) plus R18. Win 10.

Would you want the scene and if yes, how?

911
Currently, there's 1:1, 1:2, 1:4, but I think having a percentage value freely selectable or a "fit to window" like with the picture viewer would be better.

912
The ability to re-arrange the order of layers (inclusive the masks) would be great, just drag and drop them to where you like.
The simplest example would be re-arranging layers of grafitti on a wall.

913
Lest it may be forgotten:
- I would really like a checkbox to toggle mats in the layered shader (active/inactive). It was confirmed that this is already in Max and should come, but just to make sure ;)

- Please gray out the "Amount" input field when a mask is used. It is without effect anyway, but I found it confuses people who try to achieve "addition mixing" with the values there and wonder why nothing happens.

Thx,
Michael

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Material Override
« on: 2017-05-26, 05:38:16 »
I can't get it to work.  I am using 1.6RC2.  Is this a known problem with this version?  Perhaps I am doing something wrong...  I am using exclude with an interior scene.  In the exclude box are the glass materials and the Corona Sun and Sky.  I've even tried excluding the camera.  What am I missing?  Thanks, Kevin

It only works for me if I, additionally to ticking the checkbox, drag a material into the material slot next to it, preferably a neutral gray one.

Maybe that's it for you?

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Stack materials, alpha....
« on: 2017-05-19, 15:57:51 »
I found the Projector shader to be the most flexible (because being "parametric") way to add decals and mix projections. I also found some people that loved Corona up to the point I told them to try the projector shader because they basically had no idea that it is there and how to use it ;)
I am really, really looking forward to stacking the c4d way in Corona (and to having interactive rendering to adjust materials, because the viewport representation is currently lacking with the projector shader).

If you don't have a clue what the furry ball a "projector shader" is or how to use it, I could cook up a few screenshots.
