Hardware / Ryzen9 5900x vs. 5950x
« on: 2022-10-10, 12:14:48 »
Hi, I am currently building a new desktop pc mainly for rendering, CAD and a bit gaming.
I have to choose between Ryzen9 5900x or 5950x for 170€ more. Is the performance difference worth the price? If I choose the "weaker" CPU, does it affect anything else than the render time?

Learner’s Corner / How can I improve my renderings?
« on: 2022-09-18, 19:24:55 »
Hi there,

I am kinda new to Cinema/Corona. I made those renderings for an architectural competition.
How can I improve? I feel like my materials look kinda flat. For most of them I used 4 maps, Normal, Bump, Displacement and Roughness. I used 1000*1000px images from to create the textures. Also I had troubles with the concrete texture, since it still had those patterns even tho the texture images said seamless 😅 also the conrete was kinda shiny when you look at it from a very small angle.

Looking forward for any advices about materials, lighting, composition and anything else.

Best regards,

[C4D] General Discussion / Wooden trusses fiber direction
« on: 2022-08-31, 11:28:02 »

I would like to render a big amount of wooden trusses facing different directions. Is there a way to get the fiber direction according to the direction of the objects? So far I tried exporting different layers for each direction type, for example: wood horizontal, wood vertical, wood diagonal1, wood diagonal2. In the modelling editor it works, but when I render it, the fiber directions are all the same. (picture3)
Unfortunately I not only have 4 fiber directions in 1 truss, but also 4 directions where the trusses will face. How do I avoid having a loooot of different layers?

Best regards

I was trying to get an A2 image, so I chose 59,4cm*42cm in the render settings when I startet my cinema scene. At first I had 70dpi for testing, before I did the final render I changed to 200dpi. I saved my image as PNG but somehow it came out about double the size I wanted it to be and I had to scale my render to fit it into my presentation layout.
Does somebody know what I did wrong there?

Best regards, Mettigel Hawai

my laptop keeps crashing a lot when I am using interactive rendering. It doesnt happen from the start, but after using cinema 4d for like 20-30mins setting up the render settings and material settings. I was confused since the different scenes were kinda small and my laptop is also only 1 year old.
I am using Cinema 4DR23 Corona 6 hotfix 1 on an Apex 15, Geforce RTX 2070, AMD Ryzen 9 3900 12threads, 32GB RAM

[C4D] General Discussion / Stains on the image
« on: 2021-04-03, 16:20:55 »

In February I was working on my final render for my university project. I already had threads about frosted glass material posted in the forum.
Back then I was trying to render my final image of my interior, but somehow I had big troubles. I had little time and then there were these stains in the image, which made it impossible for me to use the image. So I restarted the rendering many times, later with lower quality and resolution. I tried different things, in the end I got a low quality image, which I was not really happy about. Does anyone know whats the reason for those stains? Also I wanted to ask wheter you have general tips for me to improve my image further and also my Corona skills for the upcoming project.

Looking forward for your respond.

[C4D] General Discussion / Zoom in Interactive Rendering
« on: 2021-02-10, 23:32:31 »
Hi guys,
I am trying to render in coronas interactive rendering, but the problem is that I can't zoom out neither with mouse scrolling or the button on the top of the interactive rendering window. so I can't really see the whole composition. Does anyone know how to fix it?`
I am rendering on DIN A1 format with 200dpi. I am using two monitors and when i hit render the window drops out of my main monitor and is split on both monitors then.

[C4D] General Discussion / Profiled Glass Material
« on: 2021-02-07, 20:53:45 »

I am trying to get a profiled glass material. I already tried some things in the material editor, but I couldn't manage to get the result I want.
Attached I have an example of what kind of material I want to achieve.

[C4D] General Discussion / Plants in Corona
« on: 2020-12-13, 12:40:20 »

I am planning a scene with a lots of trees, since I will show a tropical park in my rendering. Do you have any tips where I can find plants? I was wondering wheter it's a good idea to do it in Cinema/Corona, since so far I couldn't find any trees in the library.

I would like to use one material for multiple objects. Does anyone know how to do it fast not having to do it one by one? The file I am using is a Vectorworks export with a lot of objects.
Also I would like to know how to set up materials for instances.

I got an educational license for Cinema 4D S22 and somehow the Corona Plugin does not show in the Cinema Interface. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Best regards

Hardware / New Laptop for architecture studies
« on: 2020-06-18, 19:34:13 »
I would like to buy a new laptop, since my old one is crashing a lot. I want to run Vectorworks, Corona/Cinema4D and PS on it. I am building complex models, thats where my old laptop is struggling the most. Do you have any recommandations which specs are suited in my case?

[C4D] General Discussion / Material ID
« on: 2020-05-23, 18:35:20 »

I was trying to get a multi pass Material ID to export for photoshop. I need it to select all Objects with the same material at once. I used multi-pass->mask->ID-> Materials. I used 2 different materials for my objects and pressed render, but somehow the multi pass Material ID didn't work, as all objects had the same color, even tho they had different materials.

Anybody knows what I did wrong?

Best regards.

[C4D] I need help! / Cinema 4D Rendering Lines
« on: 2020-05-18, 22:41:00 »

I would like to render 2 different pictures.
1. A white textured rendering with shadows.
2. Only the outlines of my objects.
I want to put them together in Photoshop and work on the lines rendering with textures. The shadow rendering is to multiply.
Is there a way to render only lines in Corona?
I tried it in Cinema with Sketch and Toon, but it didn't work in Corona and the Cinema 4D lines rendering was useless, since only a couple of lines were shown.
