Hi,

I think this feature can create slowdown problems with 4K monitors.
Until today I have always used a 900x600 resolution and displayed at 200% (2:1), in this way I had a higher calculation speed and a good video display.
Now however with this new function (Daily Build 2023-05-30) to keep the same size of the VFB, it renders me at 2200px with of course a big drop in performance.
I'd like to get an opinion from those who use 4K monitors and understand if I'm missing something, maybe there's a way to fix it.
Thank you

Hi there, unfortunately, I do not have a 4K monitor but are you also using the maximum resolution to limit it in the Corona preferences? Just curious ;)

Hi,

yes, I put 900 but it seems that nothing changes.
Perhaps it would be useful to bring the Image upscaling factor to 0.5 but below the value 1 it doesn't go down

Hey Fabio,

If I understand you correctly I think what you want to do here is to set the Image Upscaling Factor to 2 or higher.

If you do set it to 2 then Corona will take, for example, a 1280x720 image and upscale it to 2560x1440 size for you. It will still be rendering at 1280x720 but the output you'll see in the IR will be double the size as Corona will duplicate the pixels for you.

Hi Nejc!

yes the upscaling works correctly but I have the problem of not having a full image, in fact the horizontal and vertical scroll bars appear. And if I try to zoom in they appear again.
I think right now there is no way to fix it

Hello all,

I have the same issue, I'm also on a 4k monitor and everytime I try to adjust to get a full view of the img it expands itself to a bigger size showing me just part of the img and scroll bars all over.
so far there's no way to get a full view of the img.

tip: It would be nice to have a lock button in the vfb that will lock to previously size set in the prefs. so everytime we want to resize we would unlock it.

Another bug  is everytime we resize it duplicates the lights in the lightmix tab

if you see the scroll bands it means that you have the upscaling set to a value other than 1

this feature already present in 3ds max? In case I'd be curious to ask for some opinion for users who use 4K monitors

in my opinion the IR becomes impractical and poorly performing if you exceed 1000px.
Now to have the same size of the vfb (zoom 2:1) that I used before with the previous build,  I have to do the IR at about 2200 pixels (1:1) with the latest build.

yes it is @2 and i use this way for the same reason as you wrote on ur first post, with 4k monitor 900px is very small and can barely see details and such.

As I mentioned  on my other post would be great to have a on/off or Lock button on the vfb window to enable ou disebla this feature.

we'll see.

I would like to understand if there will be plans to modify this function also because I don't think I'm the only one with a dual 4K configuration.
I am attaching the screenshot of the 4K monitor and an IR display that I have always used in the past with 900x600 and 2:1 settings.
Now I'm forced to display in IR at almost 1700 pixels with slow computation as a result.

We appreciate you taking the time to thoroughly explain what seems to be troubling you here Fabio and our dev team is already looking into improving / changing the current behavior so that it'll be more useful than it currently is.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering, we are also looking into adding a toggle for the resizable VFB so if you don't like it you can turn it off.

Thank you for the option to disable this function. As it is useless to me!

It would be really cool if they also fixed this old bug.... (Internal ID=987947135)

Am I missing something? I don't see any On/Off option. Where do I find it?
I have just installed the latest release (RC2). Or has this option been removed in RC2?

Regards
