I was just wondering if Corona team is working on improving corona scatter? Adding presets and include/exclude functions like forest pro?

I'd definitely would like to see more development on Corona Scatter too. I personally use Corona Scatter in most situations, and only switch to Forest Pack if really needed.
It's simplicity wins the Forest Pack's messy interface for me. No question Forest Pack is way more advanced, but for everyday use 70% of it's advanced features is not needed.

If only it had features like control over the scale of each separate scattered object (within instanced objects menu), simple exclude include with option to mark the areas with a brush, and option to save your setups, it would be a perfect tool.
Using distance maps and advanced scattering techniques unfortunately also slows Corona Scatter down a lot.

Anyways. Would be awesome to see Corona Scatter Pro at some point.

Priority things I'd like to see for Corona scatter:

1. Edge trimming (at the sub-object level). The distance map/scaling feature is neat, but doesn't hold a candle to simply clicking a couple of buttons in forest pack - it also doesn't work well for large scatter patches/objects.
2. The ability to easily apply a material to affect the whole scatter (i.e mapping a bitmap to a scattered rug).
3. More control over scatter distributions/scale i.e individually mapped distributions/scales of scatter source objects within the same scatter group. Currently you need to have multiple scatters to do this + masks.
Vray who?

I would like to add that the only reasons I still use Forest Pack is the already mentioned "edge trimming", but also "clustering". I get a lot more realistic nature with clustering, since a lawn or a forest aren't completely random. Can this be done with corona scatter, in an easy way? If not, I suggest it as a feature.

Is there a way to draw diffuse color of scattered objects from the diffuse texture of the object they are being scattered on ?

It's sorta possible to do with some hacks: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=15049.msg95718#msg95718 The method has some limitations, but currently it's the best that you can achieve. Hopefully that will be easy to do in scatter pro.
