I'm rendering using DR and have "search LAN during render" checked and Corona keeps finding nodes that doesn't exist. I'm rendering right now and I'm up to 46 render nodes (49 now), when my farm only has 5 licenses. None of the nodes (real or not) return any passes. Is this a bug?

edit: Corona 1.4

I have a scene with a forested area; a few manually placed "hero" proxies and one scatter with about 350 scattered trees. When running the interactive renderer max basically stops responding and I have a hard time getting the "stop" button to even register clicks. Is this common or is it my setup (scene/hardware) that could be causing it? Is there something I should keep in mind when using the scatterer?

Corona 1.4. I don't know the exact specs of my work computer, but it's some sort of xeon processor and 32gbs or ram.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, couldn't find a specific thread.

I just started my first real project (for a client) using Corona, and have been learning the specifics. Why was the rounded corners setting removed from the material tab? It was very handy and it's just cumbersome to have a map in the bump slot, especially if you have another bump map. This is one thing that I thought I wouldn't have to do when switching from V-Ray and that I like about the Modo internal renderer. I'm a bit disappointed.

Hi. I was about to start testing Corona on our first real project and immediately hit a pretty big wall. This isn't strictly a Corona error, but maybe someone has had the same problem:

Whenever I set a render output path/filename that is on out network and check "Save file", in the common tab, I can't save the max file. Max just gets stuck saving forever, even on empty scenes. I've tried several scenes and computers and get the same thing. I've never had this before since V-Ray saved the rendered images via its own frame buffer, not via Max's built in "saver".

Does anyone know what this is? Any tips greatly appreciated since I'd really like to use Corona on this project

Edit: It seems to happen when the max file OR the render output is on the network. Sigh

Hi. When auto saving a render with render elements, all elements get saved in subfolders named after the element. For example "CESSENTIAL_Indirect_CESSENTIAL_Indirect", "CESSENTIAL_Refract_CESSENTIAL_Refract" etc. This was never the case with V-Ray. IS this a Corona thing or a 3ds max thing? Can I disable it somehow so that all saed elements end up in the same folder?

[Max] General Discussion / A question about licensing
« on: 2016-09-23, 08:56:27 »
I'm sorry if this has been answered or is in the wrong section.

We got a fairsaas license (with 5 render nodes) at work, so that I could evaluate Corona as a potential replacement of V-Ray for the whole group, and I installed the license server on one of our farm nodes (putting my login in the .txt file). What happens if I want to continue testing it at home and activate the license there, without the license server? Will the license server "lose" its activation and will all the render nodes stop functioning?

Thanks. It's working very well so far, there was no problem just replacing V-Ray.

Hardware / New hardware question
« on: 2016-07-15, 10:45:36 »
Hi. Since I have a job with a good computer and a farm I've let my home computer gather dust, but now I need to do some rendering at home. We use V-Ray at work, but I played around with Corona alpha, like it much better and will buy a license for personal projects. My old computer has an i7 920 (2.67ghz), 12gb ram and some other stuff in a Fractal Design R5 case.

My question: Would it be better to upgrade this with a new motherboard, CPU, ram and cooling or is it worth keeping it as a render node and get a new budget PC with new components? What would be the best budget price/performance setup? Budget is $800-$1000 at most, more like "as cheap/good as possible".

Thanks!

edit: I know this has been asked before, but reading all the posts and trying to digest all the info is making my head hurt. Last time I build my own computer was 5 years or so ago, I'm completely out of the loop.
