Title: Corona To Unreal work flow?
Post by: Philip kelly on 2019-10-14, 13:14:00
Good day.

Is there anybody using Corona for the still work and using Unreal for the interactive work.
Or just modeling in Max and straight into Unreal with Corona textures to Unreal.
I would like to start using Unreal as its the way work is going and I am being asked for it also.
Thank you, PM me if you like.

Hello Philip,

Datasmith maybe ? so far, I reported only one problem to Epic, regarding Real World Scale option not exported correctly (whereas it's ok with VRay).

Thank you for the reply.
Do I take it from that, you use Unreal in production?
If so, whats the process you use, if you don't mind me asking.

Thank you
Philip

Would be curious about this also. Just started playing around with Unreal and Twinmotion. TM was relatively easier (though no option for MAX import), but materials/displacement and lighting (sun more so) from MAX/Corona to Unreal didn't really work well using Datasmith so far. Plus I don't really have a grasp on the material editor in Unreal, so making tweaks is extremely cumbersome.

Here's a project I started in 3dsmax and Corona then ported over to unreal. I've used datasmith in the past with mixed results. What I've been doing lately is importing as an FBX then using materials from PBR materials from substance, megascans or poliigon to retexture quickly. Megascans is super cool because you can import them directly onto the object.

The first two images are renders from Corona, the video is from Unreal. What awesome about the video is that it exports in under a minute at 1080. I tried rendering 8 seconds from Corona and it was going to take me 20+ hours.

Cheers,

Yusef

Thank you very much for the reply.
I did see your video before.
I have brought in models though datasmith, and it comes in void of all materials after all the work in corona.
I will try the fbx version and see if that is any better.

Is there any difference between unreal studio and the data smith version.

Lighting always I stumble at also.
Could do with a blank temple of lighting .
What do you  for the foliage , trees bushes and etc.

Do you have buy everything again, speed tree etc?

Thank you.
