I've used substance maps that ships with max and get mixed results. Sometimes it comes out pretty decent, but most of the time it's total crap. Your bricks though, looks amazing. Only if pattern could be improved...

You can do it in 3ds max as well. Go to render settings, scroll down to bottm, in view dropdown list select desired viewport and lock it by pressing little lock icon next to it.

Don't know. I installed geomaps demo and tried it with different renderers. Scanline renders curvature map just fine, Corona gives incorrect results and Mental Ray sees it as incompatible. Tension map OTOH just crashes max without warning. It's areal pitty, i was looking for similar maps for a long time. I may write to boomerlabs support, let's see what they have to tell.

Topics in feature requests and bug reporting sections are moved by Ondra himself. There must have been a firm reason to do so. Maybe this request was duplicated? Now, that you bumped this topic, let's wait for his response for a while. If not, than we can try to gently poke him to this question.

p.s. i was really excited when i saw that curvature map. It's a real boomer that it doesn't work in Corona, though.

Yes, this is perfectly possible to do in Corona too. Look for a enviromental overrides in render settings.

Sure it is, but not as a substitute of white. There must be a decent reason to shift colour balance to one or another side for it to work nicely. I don't see that reason in your picture.

Not sure why, but i prefer Mental Ray version a little bit more. Nevertheless, top job as usual!

I have one small request. Switch renderer to Corona option is great, but it resets scene if renderer already set to Corona. Could script check for a current renderer before conversion. That would help to avoid little nasty surprises :]

Create CoronaOutput map, make sure that affected by color mapping is unselected, plug into input slot CoronaColor map, set colour as desired. Now plug CoronaOutput to enviroment override and you're done.

I think i remember Ondra saying per-element randomization would be quite complicated. I am not sure of it though.

Non the less, you can always add material by element modifier on top of the object and set it to random ID.

That is not always possible, unfortunatelly.
