Your sphere is perfectly glossy/reflective as it is. The only issue is, your scene is late day and dark with nothing bright to reflect. Here is a render from your scene, but I duped the sphere and moved it behind so you can clearly see how reflective your material is.

I'm not really sure I know what you're talking about as far as licensing goes, but one trick to see characters and numbers more clearly is to paste that info into a text file and change the font to something like these to make things more clear.

Are you using the  Corona Sky AND the Sun? The sky will provide light from all directions. Can we assume you are also using a Corona Camera? You may need to adjust settings for exposure.

A low-quality HDR can produce bad shadows and noise. Also, if your system is running out of RAM it will swap with the hard drive which is dramatically slower unless you have super fast SSD. Also consider the resolution of your materials. In my opinion, only the trees near the camera could use such high resolution textures. It's just overkill unless you are rendering different shots in the scene then that makes sense. C4D loads all of those 4k and 6k images into RAM. I don't know the sizes you have, but I can imaging each of them could be hundreds of MB or more for each one. That CPU is not world-shattering speed-wise. I see online it's does 12195 in the Cinebench r23 multi-core test. For example, my 5-year old iMac Pro comes in around 16737 in multi-core. Either one is nothing compared to Threadripper 64, but then again, that $4,000 USD just for the CPU. I get it.

What I love about Corona is you can still get decent speed on older CPUs. I think it's a matter of learning to adjust your scene for best optimization.

Do a quick test. Change your sky to Physical Sky (no HDR). Maybe add a Sun to match your shadows. Set your settings to match mine to override all materials and render a test. Try 100 passes or use the Noise Level Limit to 5 and hit render. See if you still have noise. If you do NOT, then I suspect it's the HDR creating the noise.

Sorry, I'm rambling a bit. Post back your results. Good luck.

Another thought. If it really is such a small area giving you trouble, consider rendering just that area with more passes, then just paste them together.

You are definitely running into the Moiré effect. This was always a concern with broadcast video since the resolution was so low (720x486). The angle of your lines plays a big part in it as well. The only solution is to change the angle, enlarge the pattern or increase the resolution. The image that Beanzvision posted is spot-on. The scaled-down image doesn't have the resolution to resolve the detail and it conflicts with the screen's pixels. This is why top professionals on TV never wear fine patterns on camera. Their clothes will dance with this effect. In this example, notice the farther away the camera gets (lower effective resolution), the worse the shimmering gets? Same problem you have here.

If would be helpful to see your layers in Photoshop. My guess is that you'd need to use Multipass. This will most likely give you a black image with your Caustics, which you then use a certain layer mode to composite it. Something like Screen or Add.

In your example, seems like that would be tricky since you have a transparent background, with a show and your caustics are transparent as well. Looks like you have reflections mixed with your caustics too.

In my test, I was able to get Caustics on its own layer, but there were still some caustics on the floor in this scene. Maybe some extra alphas to remove the floor. Not sure I know the best way to do this with PSDs or PNGs that is.

There is also this tool. Never used it, but it looks nice.

Well that takes most of the fun out of it. I've had instances where I found the perfect model to purchase, only to find I didn't notice it was Max only. A place like TurboSquid will convert the scene for you, but not create materials. I guess that converter makes sense for someone making the switch from Max to C4D and has both.

@sszyszka I totally know what you mean. Is your situation that you have each render in different project files? Did you see my idea about only using one client for each?

I believe it was explained to you that this is a limitation of Corona that will be fixed at some point. You cannot put the camera inside the volume.

[C4D] Daily Builds / Re: Slicer
« on: 2021-12-23, 19:18:17 »
Create new Corona material and choose Slicer. You will see a slot to choose what material you will see in the sliced parts of your model. Apply this material to an object you want to use to be the source of your cut. This object will NOT be seen, but you will see that material inside the cut. If you are familiar with the Boole function, it works the same. "I want to see Object A minus Object B"

You will also see an area where you can drag objects that are getting sliced, but you do NOT want them to be affected. In my example above, the Sphere I used to cut that slice, was also cutting innto the floor so I dragged the floor into this area to fix that problem.

Yes, that's very helpful. Thanks for your help.

Nice. Good to know.

I haven't tried the Slicer thing yet. So it does a Boole function, but give the geometry a solid face and a material?

OK so I'm right about what it does. Just did a test. Curious what else it can do, as I can get the same result using C4D's existing Boole function?

Glad that helped. I did mention it in my first post though. I highly recommend naming each tag. Either double-click the name or select one, and in the Attributes pallete, you can change the name in the Basic tab.
