dear corona team,

i was wondering if there is any possibility to have a sort of openvdb support?
currently i am able to use phoenix fd to import vdb but need to mesh it in order to use custom material.
since i am not on the dailies, cant really test it out.

long story short. pretty please? it would open max up significantly.

patiently awaiting the v1, and best of luck to you all.

i hope the fact there was no reply to this means the ability to import volume data to be used with the corona volume shader is a given.
would not hold my breath it will be implemented by autodesk.

i really have to bump this up.

can we please have some insight into the open vdb status?
its fine if there are no plans to support it, but it would be really good to know.

thanks

I'm pretty sure there are plans to support it, but yeah, confirmation wouldn't hurt.

+1 to request.

Even new FumeFX 4.0 supports OpenVDB. Would love to have VDB support in corona renderer.

Since vray's vdb support is broken (no sparse volumes supported until now) this would be great :)

i have to admit being pretty bummed out about no info on vdb.
is this feature anywhere on the roadmap? can we please get any sort of info?

having volume support and not being able to import vdb honestly hurts.

But what if we want our archviz buildings to be burning?

its not happening bruh, the roadmap is clear about it.

not sure how these priorities are set but 1.5 feature list looks pretty uninspired.
how any of these features is more important then VDB´s is beyond me but i guess the guys have their reasons.

sad to have had to move on to other engines but i still use corona as my bread and butter renderer. cant say i see myself upgrading again tho.

Well for VFX, yes. But we chose the list of things to do very carefully to maximize utility for archviz/product design users, while making it a faster release than 1.4. We will still have to do about 2 more archviz-focused releases to get Corona where we want it to be in archviz

I thought I'd add another +1 for VDB support. I understand if there hasn't been any more movement on this with the impending 1.5 release a few weeks away, but has there been any thought on implementing this in the release after 1.5?

We will definitely do it at some point, it is just that as long as we feel there is something to improve to make Corona better in archviz, we will do that other thing first
