Hi everyone,

As mentioned in the topic we need to render grass, a lot of grass.
We’ve tried it with mograph (or surfacespread) and cloned multiple lowpoly grass patches , we  also used hair.
Basically, both results are okay, but the area we need to cover is quite big (1000m² ++) and that leads to very long render-times.
Since these areas are often in the mid- and background render speed is more important than quality.
Is there something else, we can try?
A simple grass texture is just not enough, since grass looks very different when viewed up- or downhill, in sun or shadows, in front of walls with small blades of grass covering the lower part ,…
I guess you know, what I mean 😉

Thanx!!

Have you tried our new Scatter feature in the V8 daily build? https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1KcDSZVZnG9nyCnFCC6kmVIlqySg3GRtc

I checked the displaced grass materials on the unofficial webpage for C4d Corona materials. I didn’t try them, but they might be decent enough for background surfaces.

If its still image, render simle color and render id color pass, and keep shadows, later in photoshop swap with real grass image and you will need a bit of photoshop work if you need grass to show for example on buildings or any surface. Simply add grass on edges with brush tool (select grass). Hope you understood something, my english is not that good.
