Hi,
any news about this old bug?
I found a similar (if not the same) behaviour: in a scene with a background, I want to "render select" (or use an include/exclude list) only an object
but it cames up in the render another object, with a glass material, if it has the option "visible in mask" unchecked as in this case;
another way to not have the glass object to appear is to check the "Thin" option so indeed it's related to refraction too.
I attach a sample scene.
Thank you!
Man

Hi All,
for those who care...
I made a new version of WAcky mod of original Sergo Pogosyan's Automultimatte script...
I added the possibility to choose monochromatic to make render elements.
I'm not a good script writer at all, so there may be a lot of bugs and a not elegant code.. but it seem to work.

So here it is.

It does, thank you Maru

Thank you Frood, it works!
But don't you consider a bug that the volumetric part doesn't fade using opacity?
Don't mind, I just read your statement in the link you provided.
But I don't get why it works in this way

Hi All,

searching on the forum I didn't find a similar report so I hope it's not a duplicate:

Using corona distance map in a render time boolean, if a material uses volumetric scattering, with absortion color different from pure white, it doesn't work as expected.
If needed I'll upload the scene.
Tested on Max 16/19 and corona 3/4.

Thanks,
Manuel

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: Lights - Hide in Display Floater
« on: 2019-05-31, 10:01:04 »
I'm riturning on this becouse I think it's a bug, or, at least, very annoying...
I think that "Hide by category" should work only at viewport level, which is how it is intended to work as you can read here:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/3DSMax/files/GUID-17B0FB7F-543B-4727-A16B-EAAF80922666-htm.html
Why should I hide all lights as the render would be black?
If I activate render hidden lights it would override all my selection on hidden lights on scene explorer... so not so usefull
I'm not sure but a friend confirmed me that in Vray if you hide lights by category, they works in render.

We use a tool like this one: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/advanced-uv-normalizer
You make all objects use the same texel density so you have to adjust the tile only the first time.

What do you think about it?

OK, I will try!
Thank you again

Hi WAcky,
very usefull script!

Is there a way to create monochromatic elements instead of RGB?
As far as I know masking of materials nested in layered materials doesn't work: only base material will appear in mask.
So there is a way not to create all those unusefull masks?

Thank you very much for your work
Man

General CG Discussion / Re: IDTool for Corona?

Amazing!
Do you think is it possible to add the id and render elements for all the scene materials?
I think it would be just perfect with this feature

Thank you very much for your work!
