The ability to re-arrange the order of layers (inclusive the masks) would be great, just drag and drop them to where you like.
The simplest example would be re-arranging layers of grafitti on a wall.

Lest it may be forgotten:
- I would really like a checkbox to toggle mats in the layered shader (active/inactive). It was confirmed that this is already in Max and should come, but just to make sure ;)

- Please gray out the "Amount" input field when a mask is used. It is without effect anyway, but I found it confuses people who try to achieve "addition mixing" with the values there and wonder why nothing happens.

Thx,
Michael

As the topic says, I tried it with flat or cubic, no show.

[C4D] General Discussion / Layered Shader and Displacement
« on: 2017-04-27, 06:13:06 »
Is displacement supposed to work other than in the base material within the Layered shader?

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Wire Shader in Bump/Displacement

Sometimes it would come in handy to have the Wire Shader working in Bump and displacement. Think gaps.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Corona Post-Pocess
« on: 2017-04-21, 00:31:03 »
It is unfair to call this even a buglet, but if you open "Corona Post-Process" from the Picture Viewer, the window coming up is titled "Corona Post-Pocess".

Windows, R18, Corona Beta (at least the latest two ones from April 13 and 19).

112
Noise as a texture in Volume material - I played with volumetric fog/god rays but no texture does seem to have any impact.
Will it come later or should it be working already?

113
Open the multipass window, select "Multipass" itself and press "Del" or "Backspace", C4D freezes.

Corona Beta from April 11 on Win 10 / C4D R18.

For some reason, the shutter speed changed in my scene from 1/1000 to 0.02 (Corona camera, overriding everything). The result: A totally overexposed image (of course, that's 50 seconds, some taking over from the ISO, something else?). I have no idea what actually caused it, but it happened at least with two scenes when I saved them under a new name (from 1a to1b, for example). The former scene then had this strange value applied to, too, when I opened to check. Must have happened while saving, I guess.

My system: Win 10, i7-4770k, C4D R18, Corona Beta 1 from April 7.

I will try to isolate this issue more, but maybe someone of the developers has a clue or can get one from this description.

- When (in what cases) do I use this shader / what makes me want to use it over the native bitmap loader of C4D?
- Would it be possible for the future to transfer already existing bitmaps from the texture slot into this shader's texture slot when assigning a Corona bitmap to a channel? As native shaders like Layer or Filter do?
- Would it be possible to add this little "selection triangle" within the Bitmaps shader that allows us to select from a list of already used bitmaps instead of always having to use the "load" dialog?

Michael

Work in Progress/Tests / An old scene "coronafied"
« on: 2017-04-04, 00:14:47 »
I took an old scene, converted the materials and gave Corona a try (C4D, A6.3).
I guess I should get going.

117
Topic says it all, it would make it faster to switch between different coatings, for example.

118
Not much to say: Load scene, press "Render", restart C4D.
C4D is 18.041, crashes with Corona A6.2 and A6.3.
System is Windows 10 PC.
Renders fine without "Keep Displacement" or without "Material Override" at all.

[C4D] General Discussion / Motion Blur and PLA / Cloth
« on: 2017-03-28, 19:34:00 »
I cannot get motion blur from animations with Point Level Animations or Cloth simulations (neither uncached nor cached), so is this just not yet implemented or am I doing something wrong (in which case I would post something more specific)?

Thank you in advance for your replies,
Michael

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Scene Bounding Box too large ... not
« on: 2017-02-26, 16:56:19 »
I ran into something that's rather a source of confusion or annoyance than a bug. Trying to render a converted scene (from standard C4D renderer) I ended up with a "Scene Bounding Box is too large", followed by some confusing numbers that rather pointed to a scene of the size of the universe before the big bang (we could argue here if there was a BEFORE, because there was no time then, but I am wandering from the subject) than a scene too large.
Nevertheless, after removing all objects one by one, a Corona light remained - Light type: Sector, Light Shape: Sphere Sector, Angle: 0°.
And this (impossible) angle caused the strange error warning.

Why did I write so much and did not come to the point at once?

Well, it took you considerably less time to read this than me to debug the scene ;) And I was really pi... (please, read it as 3.14159... - I am a polite guy).

Anyway, my conclusion is, you should rather suppress this misleading error message for this case or rather set 0.001° as minimum angle, so nobody accidentally runs into this issue. Who wants a zero-point-light anyway?

Thx,
Michael
