Here's a quick but effective (I hope so) setup:

1. Create new CoronaMtl
2. In "reflection" slot assign CoronaColorMapper
3. In CoronaColorMapper a Gradient control pop-up window will appear, chose a colour gradient you wish.
4. In "input map" slot assign a standard Falloff map (optionally change mixing curve).
5. Adjust material's glossiness, reflectivity, etc.

I'm attaching the scene file if you want to experiment with my gradient. ;)

Coo, good to know it's useful. Here are some other renders I already dropped in the previous thread.

This is one of the effects I was looking for, among dispersion in refraction, SSS, and volume/3D Noise materials, thanks.
But, sorry, I do not seem to be able to locate CoronaColorMapper. I'm using v6. Could someone point out my fault?

Yes, it was removed. But it will probably come back in a more usable form. :)

As for now you can try combining multiple falloff maps.

But I think it's outdated. There is no CoronaColorMapper in newer builds, right?

Let me introduce you my "i have some free time to play with Corona, lets make a CD shader", and cause there is no longer  CoronaColorMapper... well... sounds like fun to make.

It seems i always make things for fun that end up wasting HD space XD. At least here maybe someone can actually use it.

That makes me an official "hobbist"?

The max file contains a scene setup of CDs with a special flavored "shader".

Feel free to use.
