Hello Corona Forum users
My current desktop is an intel i7-6700(4cores/8threads) @3.4GHz base speed. Its really weak when dealing with rendering large scenes with corona and that's why I am thinking of an upgrade but not really sure what to upgrade to and that's why I am seeking help with a couple of questions.
1-If I want to upgrade to a 16-core cpu would you guys recommend to get the AMD Processor Ryzen ThreadRipper 2950X 16 Core 3.5 GHz or wait till the upcoming September and get the new AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16core 3.5GHz)?
2-If I do intend to go even higher and get the Ryzen ThreadRipper 2990WX with its 32 cores, would you say that it would be the best option to go for in building a new setup ? In other words, is its performance that much better and powerful than the 16 core 2950X threadripper that it deserves to be bought for almost double the price than the 16 core 2950X threadripper?
Attached is my current desktop benchmark result.
Hope to hear your advice and comments.

Ryzen 3950 will be faster than TR 2950X and also cheaper to build. Unless you'll go with latest MoBo tech stuff and all that jazz.
Altho, if you can afford it, go for the very new Epyc with 64 cores/ 128 threads.

While some also speculate the 64 core TRs will follow by the end of the year.

Anyways, not worth the waiting game, if you're good you'll get to afford more ;) - just stay in the flow, seize what you can and enjoy the beat!

I purchased my x399 and 2950x for $50 cheaper than just the cost of just the 3950x. 1 & 2nd Gen Threadripper are always on sale now, along with the x399 boards. If your going to wait till the 3950x to release you might as just wait to see what info comes out about the new Threadrippers.

If you need an upgraded computer right this moment, the best idea IMO is to pick up a high end x399 MSI Meg or Zenith Alpha and just pick up the 1950x (1920x if your really want to save money but still have a nice upgrade, its $265 on newegg right now). This way later on down the road you should be able to upgrade to Zen 2 Threadripper or pick up 2990wx when they go on sale.

The 3950x is the top end of Ryzen, the chances of seeing more cores on the platform is far less than what Threadripper already offers.
